A Splash of Color and History in the Heart of Catalonia
The colorful and charming gem that is Girona is on the banks of where the Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell rivers meet. Girona is protected by fortifications and features a remarkable medieval center along with several fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings.
The province houses the ancient Arab Baths, the Girona Cathedral, and the lovely Girona Art Museum. Due to its mountainous terrain, Girona is also a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts, and theater lovers can enjoy a performance at the Auditorium Jardins del Castell.
Girona has a lively nightlife and offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and cafés serving anything from local Basque and Catalan delicacies to traditional tapas and an array of international cuisines.
Other popular landmarks to see are the 14th-century Sant Feliu, the historical fortifications, the 11th-century Monastery of San Daniel, and the characteristic Girona Bridge.
Girona Train station offers direct connections to bustling Barcelona and the picturesque town of Portbou. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation options and deals in Girona and around Catalonia.

There are free large carparks available which we found when visiting had plenty of spaces, which are on the level ground and just on the edge of Girona old town. Within Girona old town there is limited parking which is mainly for accessible parking.
Girona old town has a lot to offer, its full of character, plenty of places to and drink and historical building to explore.

Underrated due to its proximity to Barcelona but Girona itself is worth a visit , I found it fascinating . The old town with it's cobblestone narrow streets and great restaurants and the nearby historical buildings are stunning.
The hotel was clean and very comfortable though the air con was a bit too efficient and we both got quite cold in the middle of the night. Staff were incredibly helpful, before and during our stay. About 10-15 minute easy walk into Girona old town, where there are lots of cafés, bars and restaurants. Great coffee shop, Espresso Mafia. Lovely staff and good coffee.
The hotel is nice, in the center of the city, at the walking distance from the old town and the cathedral. The minimum comfort is ensured, the room was very clean, all the room amenities in place. We've checked-in late on Christmas' eve with no hotel staff in place, but the indications received have been very accurate and easy to follow.
Very friendly and helpful reception. We were able to leave our rucksacks at the hotel early before checkin so we could wander the town luggage free. Large and comfortable bed and good bathroom. In a quiet residential area away from tourist central. Just an easy 10 min walk to the train and bus station and another 5 to the old town.
Location was excellent. It was nice to have a pool however it was very small and busy and we couldn't get a sun lounger so our eagerly anticipated dip in the pool had to be abandoned. Hotel Nord was very stylish with ovely areas to sit.
Location in the old town was great, nice pretty little hotel, room was clean and very spacious, staff were very friendly, very helpful in sorting us a taxi on our check out.
