This Finnish Lapland hotel is located on both the Ivalo River and the E75 motorway. It offers free WiFi access, an indoor swimming pool and free evening sauna access. Had a short layover at Hotel Ivalo. It’s incredibly near to the Ivalo bus station (180m away), made our trip a lot more convenient. Receptionist (sorry, didn’t catch her name) was very friendly and helpful, even helped us to open up the sauna room even though it has past the opening hours - impeccable service, we were very grateful. Room were clean and tidy.

Set on a dog farm in Finnish Lapland, this family-run guest house offers traditional home cooking and husky safaris. Sauna and WiFi access is free. The home cooked meals were excellent and the staff was on point. I wish we could’ve stayed longer. It was an amazing experience.
Located in Ivalo in the Lapland region, Autumn Leaf Ivalo features a patio and lake views. With garden views, this property provides a balcony. We couldn’t have chosen a better option for our 1 week staying around Inari and the village of Ivalo. With close proximity to both Urho Kekkonen national park and Lemmenjoki national park the villa serves as a perfect base for exploring the surrounding beautiful nature year around. The villa itself is simply fabulous - excellent in many respects. We enjoyed things like spacious living room with dining table facing the lakeside view, bbq possibilities outside as well as the fully equipped kitchen, saunas, comfy beds and nice touch in details such as candle lights and high quality wireless speaker. Basically, we could not find things that we would have changed - the villa was excellent as such. Further, we even spotted the northern lights (aurora borealis) when popping into the balcony, which was beautiful. Finally, the host of the villa stands out with his great attitude and friendliness - ready to help with a professional mindset of making the visitors’ staying as smooth and pleasant as possible. We wholeheartedly recommend the villa to anyone looking for a great find to stay in.

Located in Ivalo, Apartment Neitamo44 offers garden, free WiFi, a tour desk, and luggage storage space. Apartment is nice and comfy. Had everything we needed and more. Everthing was very very clean. Petteri is the good soul of the apartment and helped us so much to find the right activities during our stay and spots to see aurora lights. He managed the booking of a husky sled tour which was wonderful, we did a snowmobile tour with him, he even texted us the newest aurora borealis forecasts. Thank you so so much! Near the apartment there is a lake from where you can see the aurora lights. You can do a little midnight walk on your own. This was magical.
Located in Ivalo, Finnish Lapland, this self-catering holiday home features a terrace and sauna. Ivalo River is located nearby. Free WiFi and private parking are available. I have to say some if the best things about the property were the sauna and the kitchen. I loved the sauna particularly, it was huge and hot hot HOT with the shower attached. Perfect! Also the kitchen is well stocked with any implements you could need!

Ivalo town as a tourist attraction might not have too much to offer, however, I was going to Inari and spending time there, hence, Ivalo was optimal for accommodation. It is great that the little town has all services needed and several places for grocery shopping. Also good bus connection.
Ivalo is small but includes some lovely nature trails which are lit in winter and have useful information boards. The supermarket sells fabulous camping kit- such well designed and well made things we don't have at home like collapsible silicon sandwich boxes. And lovely wooden cutlery.
We enjoyed a beautiful winter in the north of Finland and decided to start and end the trip in Ivalo. It has only a few options for getting food but none of them we went to were bad. Walking on and across the frozen river was something completely new and we enjoyed lovely northern lights the first night with -32°C outside.
What about Ivalo. We liked bits of local architecture (Ivalo church). Local supermarkets offer a broad choice of everything (if You can translate price tags fluently). We liked every cheese we picked. Alcoholic ginger beer (Ginger Joe) and local lager (Karhu) were nice surprises to me. It's misconception that food in north costs more money (Same prices as in Helsinki). Most of the time Ivalo looked like scene from Shining (I mean always snowing, not an evil spirits). Nevertheless- it was easy to navigate around each city corner afoot. Small hints: 1) There is transfer buses from Ivalo Airport to Ivalo (10 euro) and Saariselka. Taxi Ivalo Airport- Ivalo Center costed me around 20-30 euro. 2) For russians from Saint-Petersburg- it's cheaper to travel on a bus from Murmansk, I think. 3) Free papers in K-market (/S-market) entrance- can give You a clue on where to go (and what to do) next.
Cozy little town where most winter activities can be done which includes aurora hunting, huskies rides and other outdoor activities which are fantastic. Kultahippu Hotel offers great food for dinner and its breakfast was wholesome.
Speak with the locals they are really helpful and give great tips for where to go and best location for Northern Lights viewing. Get a car 4x4 if possible roads are great and you can get around easily and there is so much beauty to see.
We loved every second of our stay at Petteri’s apartment. It was conveniently located close to a lake where we got to see the Aurora Borealis, 3 nights in a row. It was such a great tip, we had the place to ourselves most of the time! Petteri’s apartment has everything you need and more. We felt right at home, it was so cozy. It’s equipped with all the things you need and Petteri makes sure you feel comfortable. There was even a breakfast waiting for us. We will definitely book it again if a journey takes us back to Ivalo.
The style of the accomodations in wood, the fact that was close to a lake inside the forest. A lot of privacy. Very pretty shared kitchen. Very dark at night, that although we didn't saw the northern lights because of the clouds, seems a a good place to watch them. The owners are also very nice, when arriving we didn't realize that the distance from the bus station with bags with be so big, talking with them about this, they offered themselves to take us to Ivalo since one of them was already going there.
Its next to the frozen river during the winter, so it would be amazing during the summer. They have Club Nord in the hotel which offers the various activities... the staff were kind hearted ( the little personal things that matters) were just happy to help and encourage you even if ur a beginner. Next to the town, the bus drops and picks you up at the doorstep.
The hotel has 2 buildings next to each other. The modern ‘deluxe’ rooms overlook the Ivalo river and the interior design is fresh and modern. The ‘normal’ rooms have the advantage to be in the same building as the breakfast. Both are great value for the money, and the hotel is well located. Close to the airport. Local S Market store close by. Good breakfast.
Everything from the room to the private Sauna to the backyard river and forest trek they provide snow shoes for free. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was delicious. You can join reindeer feeding for free if u stay here and they provide very excellent shuttle service to airport and to city center for free.
The location is fine, about 5 km from the city center (easy to reach it on foot). The price of the accommodation is quite low so you should not expect good facilities. Room and common kitchen and toilet are clean.
Room, homemade meal, sauna, huskies safaris - everything was perfect! Thank you for your assistance and help prior visit planning and during our stay in Ivalo. Wish you the best and good luck!
The hotel is very stylish, the people there very friendly, and the design is extraordinary. Cross-country skiing on the lake was fantastic. Totally worth the money.
