FAQs about hotels in Arles

A Beautiful Journey Through Time

Located in the Provence of France, the charming city of Arles is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List thanks to its stunning Roman monuments and rich history. This beautiful destination was once a great inspiration for important personalities through time, including the Emperor Constantine I and Vincent van Gogh.

Home to the Roman baths of Constantine, the necropolis of Alyscamps and the Church of St. Trophime, Arles is a perfect example of a city perfectly combining the ancient with the modern. Built about 2,000 years ago, the Roman Arena (Arles Amphitheatre) is an imposing landmark, hosting bullfights during the festival of Feria d’Arles.

The famous painter Vincent van Gogh stayed in Arles for almost a year and created about 300 paintings and drawings. Follow his steps and visit the places depicted in some of his masterpieces, like 'Starry Night Over the Rhone', 'Langlois Bridge', 'Night Café' and the 'Yellow House'.

Situated on the banks of the River Rhône, Arles is about 15 km from the cities of Saint-Martin-de-Crau, Maussane-les-Alpilles and Tarascon. Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport is 20 km away and Booking.com will help you find a hotel, resort or apartment in the gorgeous city of Arles.

Beautiful little city with lots of history and important sites to visit. Delightful little streets full of character and charm. It’s easy to trace the time that Van Gogh lived there. Excellent restaurants with some serving cheaper menus such as the Creperie next to the Arles Amphitheatre. I even managed a bus ride to St Remy (704 - stop Republic) for a very cheap price. The location on the Rhone is also a bonus. Next time I will visit the Camargue.

The town is very walkable. Roman ruins and nice walk along river. Many restaurants for different tastes. VanGogh walk to see places he painted. Photogenic town and close to Baux du Provence and St. Remy du Provence for additional great towns and scenery.

I loved the relaxed atmosphere, museums and historical vibe. I would visit again. The nature safari was excellent. Highly recommended. we wanted to visit Aigues Mortes from Arles with public transport, but that turned out to be complex. Better reached from Nimes.

Get a ticket to enter 4 attractions for €15, we got ours at the Roman museum. But this should be available at the other historical sites or tourist office. There is also on a ticket for 6 venues. Go to the Roman museum. If you are there on a Saturday check the market on Boulevard des Lices and Boulevard Émile-Combes, features local food, textiles, and crafts, with a smaller version on Wednesday. Have dinner in Jardin Des Arts, sit in the garden, or dinner in Gaudina Alres.

Restaurants and theaters about a third less expensive than Paris. Arles is a cultural center with many galleries and a fine art movie theater , Cinema LeMejan. Cross the rue Republique bridge and walk along the river to the left and a gravel hiking trail will take you for miles through farmland. Good Vietnamese and Cambodian restaurants at Place Voltaire. The best is Dim Mui, gourmet quality off Place de la Republique at 22 rue de l'Hotel de Ville. Tasty Moroccan at 53 rue Voltaire, Tunisian Oboulaba Cafe a few steps from the apartment. Electrifying flamenco performances every month at Temple de la Rotonde. Really good Tourist Info office. Easy days trips by train to Nimes and Arles as well as jeep excursions to the Camargue and Les Baux with Camargue Alpilles Safaris, 1 rue Emile Fassin. Just walking the streets to admire the architecture is a treat.

Enjoyed strolling around the town, and visiting the amazing Roman ruins. Plenty of galleries and museums too, although we weren't able to access the Van Gogh museum - perhaps it only has temporary exhibitions? Good for a two or three night stay.

The hotel is a jewel in its interior design, very artish (great paintings and photos). If it rained you could spend the whole day in the salon reading, talking or just enjoying music they play. The location is perfect: 3-10 min on foot to most of the main attractions (arena, amphiteatre, l'Espace de Van Gogh .... and 15min to LUMA). As my room was already cleaned I was able to check-in earlier. The man at the reception was extremely kind and generous! Next time I am in Arles I would definitely choose the same place.

Wonderful location in Arles and easy to park the motorcycle. A proper French town hotel on a lovely little square. Great pool area and so nice to be in the centre of all the atmosphere. I didn’t take breakfast here side I had to leave early but it’s great value at only 7 euro by the pool so I should have got up earlier!
