Hotel du Cloitre was a fabulous place to stay. It is clean, quiet, and very comfortable. We had some of our best sleep on any vacation. The location is perfect. Parking is in a public garage, but it is easy to find and not far to take your luggage. However, if you have a lot or it is very heavy, you may find it inconvenient. The staff was very helpful - recommending excellent restaurants, providing maps, etc. They even provided a cork screw and wine glasses to enjoy our bottle on their rooftop terrace. We stayed for 3 nights and would have stayed longer.

The owner was very friendly and we got welcome drink directly from his vinery (thanks again, it was very delicious!) Lovely place for families or couples spending a nice week in Arles.

Arles Old town is charming with delightful squares with cafe seating spilling outside. The old Roman sites are well preserved and easily accessed and the Van Gogh walk is lovely. How fun to compare the view he was painting with the painting itself! It was French Heritage weekend when we arrived so entrance was free to all museums and historic sites and there was a paradeand festival to celebrate the Rice Festival and Spanish culture in the area. Lots of fun and great music.Easy access to nearby cities and tourist sites such as Pont du Gard,Nimes, the Camargue and Ste. Maries-de-mer where we enjoyed a beautiful sandy Beach and 80 degree weather. We also could have gone to a bull game there that weekend if we had planned our schedule differently. The local residents we met were all very helpful and patient with our fractured French. When we arrived at the Roman Arena in Nimes, we discovered that it was closed for tours due to a bull fight being held there and the officers at the gate gave us two tickets to get in and told us we could tour the arena ourself and watch as much of the.bullfight as we wanted. How nice was that! Our stay in Arles could not have been better.
1 Pont du Gard great and take the walking tour through the aqua duct 2 visit the Roman arena and classical theatre, bull games in the arena some times. 3 Drive the Cotes du Rhône Wine route to see hill towns, vineyards, olive trees and very narrows roads and views of the surrounding mountains ( really just large hills) 4 Avignon if you have time the museum has a very small collection 5 Annual photography festival across from the Van Gogh museum Arles is nice to walk very hard to drive, many roads closed to cars as is the small thing in Avignon and Antibes etc.
We were charmed by this little jewel. Great food, hospitality, shopping and amazing history and relics. Everything within walking distance, and the streets are generally closed to traffic. We will be back!
A very special place. We boarded a cruise from here and arrived a couple of days early as we’d been told Arles was a great place to explore. Beautiful town with lots of interesting history and buildings. Very easy to wander the old town and along the river. The Van Gogh Foundation was a nice gallery, and the history of the artists who have visited / lived / been inspired by this area add to the Roman history. Wonderful place and will return.
Lots to see, do and eat! Enjoyed the museum, St. Tropheime church, the river walk, and all the good food on Voltaire Place and Cardons Restaurant just below the coliseum: Saturday’s Market was fun.
Have a map ready because it’s easy to get lost! It feels very medieval with lots of narrow streets and beautiful old lamp lights. Lots of opportunities to see the inspirations for Van Gogh. The arena and friendly shop keepers make this an extra special stop in France.

It is situated in a quiet side of the right bank of Rhône. Going across the bridge is the old town of Arles. We were able to find the parking space by the street of the bank for 3 nights without problems. The starry night of Rhône is very romantic.

Laurence and her family are terrific hoteliers! They were able to answer many questions patiently, give advice and provide a comfortable stay, all with a smile. The hotel itself is a historic building, 3-4 centuries old. So that was fun in itself to stay in for 3 nights. Our room and bath were clean, big and very lovely with great windows overlooking the courtyard. Breakfast is generous with regional foods and something for eveyone. Hotel Musee is perfectly located, walking distance, from bus/train station, town square, Rhone River walk, churches, shops, restaurants, Roman Arena and Museum and the VanGogh Trail. There is even a museum across the street from the hotel?! I would definitely stay here if we were to return to Arles.
