We loved the area, very natural with the most amazing chateaux right in the middle. We took a day in Paris, and the train journey was about 25 minutes. (saved all the fuss of driving in and then finding a car park.) Plenty of places tpo eat. The drive from Calais was stress free all the way. We will definately go back.
Charming, sophisticated town to explore the chateau and indulge in the posh patisseries. Limited budget food choices in restaurants if you are avoiding meat as more emphasis on beef and pork. Good range of supermarkets if you are self-catering with lovely produce to buy
Superb cafes and restaurants. The chateau was incredible, huge french art collection stunning views and grounds. Quiet in second week in September. Easy to walk and drive around the area. Le Sylvia for a relaxed lunch, excellent food reasonable prices.Superb service Le Vertugadin for very fine food and gorgeous terrace, garden setting with shady seating areas. Had lunch and dinner here could not fault! La Belle Epoque for drinks and dinner, sharing boards.Lovely friendly atmosphere, great value.
Chantilly is a lovely place to visit. Best if you have a car to make it easier to travel around. Would recommend the Chateau and the restaurant at the Hamlet in the grounds. The horse museum is also worth a visit. Senlis which is about 15 mins drive away is a beautiful medieval village to while away a few hours.
Chantilly is a beautiful place. We were there for the European Arabian Horse Show which was held at the famous Chantilly Racecourse. Wonderful cobbled streets, plenty of cafes and restaurants. A really charming place. The Chateau is well worth a visit. It houses a most spectacular art collection and has beautiful grounds.
We went for the Prix De Diane, it was our 3rd time in Chantilly. The 1st 2 were for the Arc. The racecourse is great and the Prix De Dianne is a bit special for French people, lots of picnics, dressing up and a real family atmosphere. I'd recommend that The Castle tour is like being hosed down with art and culture. If you are going to walk round the gardens stay to the right, not much to see on the left garden walk. Go for a walk in Parc Watermael Boitsfort. 10mins from the main street and free.
We used to visit the original motel style out of town Campaniles with our children when driving through France on route to a holiday destination. This was well over 20 years ago. This time we were on our own and this was one of the original Campaniles. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were great- yes the place needs a bit of work to bring it up to scratch and it might not be worth it but we were expecting that. The stay brought back great memories for us.
Chantilly
Lovely small flat right in the middle of Chantilly. It's absolutely ideal for exploring the town on foot. The host was very helpful and communication was very easy. Nice treats waited for us when we arrived. We'd stay again if we go back to the area.
Nothing, I have stayed for many many years, but the hotel is now in a very poor state. This was my first return since covid, so I have not stayed for 2 years, but could not imagine it would have fallen to the current poor state.
excellent situation next to a lovely square close to shops and restaurants - note there is no restaurant in the hotel. room decorated to a high standard and we were made to feel welcome when we arrived.
Chantilly
