Beautiful location high above the valley in the sunshine with a lovely balcony & amazing views. Parking right outside (no restrictions so great for our VW campervan). Traditional style run by a welcoming family. Our room had a bath with plenty of instant hot water. A short walk downhill into the centre of town for skiing, hiking, gondola & bars / restaurants. A gentle incline on the return trip. Lovely breakfast, good value again in traditional dining room with a family history & amazing views.

It was like walking into Christmas wonderland, we loved it. Very welcoming and homely, clean comfortable rooms and warm after a cold day on the slopes. Staff were very friendly, good communication. Easy check in and out. Good location, and near electric car charging if needed.

This hotel is a fab all rounder. Great location, amazing food, very helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Staff help organise your ski pass with a discount and have arrangements with local ski hire company opposite bus station where you can leave your gear and walk in and out of village in own shoes 😉. It's a short walk into village (8 mins) but there is a free bus too. There is a choice of eggs with breakfast which I love before skiing and the set menu in the evening/ quality of cooking is sublime all from organic local foods with organic wines too - what's not to love.! Rooms are simple, functional and very clean. Highly recommend this place.

The village is perfect for skiing and non skiing holidays lovely relaxed place excellent restaurants, good local bus service which is free. Beautiful scenery and places to walk. Good shops and very helpful friendly staff everywhere. Relaxing and stress free place as most things are very close.

Chatel is situated in a picturesque valley.

Chatel is situated in a picturesque valley. This village has everything needed for tourists: shops, cafes, restaurants. We visited city during school vacations, so it was overcrowded. If you want to have a dinner at the restaurant, you have to book at least 1 day ahead. I would recommended Le Duche creperie, small family business with perfect food. I did not like skiing in Chatel, as the slopes are splited into 3 parts far fro each other.

Chatel is pretty and seems to attract sunny days (maybe we were lucky). Access to the other Porte du Soleil villages is also excellent. The variety of skiing too is huge - possibly not for beginners as you need to have a couple of years experience on skis to make the most of the resort. People in the village seemed very friendly and helpful. Another side - my wife fell heavily and required helicopter to the medical centre in Chatel. We were skiing in Switzerland at the time. The support from the pisteurs who came to help - and the whole management of the accident was first class. The medical centre in Chatel (Dr J Granet) were brilliant and highly professional and helpful. Ask me if you want to know more about a heli rescue!

I’ve been visiting Chatel for 20 years both winter and summer. Skiing, hiking and biking. Brilliant village and fantastic location. Great restaurants and I particularly like Pici Pasta an Italian themed family owned restaurant. Very comfortable. Remember to book!

Skiing village.

Skiing village. Probably extremely nice and lively in Winter period. In September, it is clearly off-season period. Still it us very nice to walk around. Other big touristic places are relatively far away (>45 min. driving); Charmonix/Mont Blanc: 1.5h by car.

A beautiful Savoyard village with its mix of old and new...

A beautiful Savoyard village with its mix of old and new chalets, no high-rise blocks like in other winter sports resorts. We were there for just three nights before the start of the Christmas school holidays. Even though snow was still scarce, skiers were able to enjoy the open slopes, and I, who no longer ski, was able to stroll around and enjoy the pool on my own.

Nice sized apartment for 2 - would be cramped for 5. Quite well equipped, albeit with old fashioned furnishings and equipment. Near the centre of Chatel. All the basics are there - warm, plenty of hot water, dishwasher, small TV, full cooker etc. Good secure parking in the underground carpark, though the exit door was broken at the time of our visit, which made.for tricky manoeuvres to get out. Overall, OK for the price paid in the context of ski rental rates in Chatel.

Location was great, the bus stop outside the property took you up and down the strip for free. Location was perfect but in a quiet area so no immediate shop - Ski shop across the road from hotel made our trip as they were very attentive (helped us with shuttle bus hire to get back to Geneva airport) along with the lady in the restaurant where you can also get an amazing take away pizza / eat at the bar.

All the rooms were comfortable. Location was great as long as you didn’t have to carry your skis up Super Chatel, best to take bus to Linga or Pre La Joux.
