Located in front of the theater of the city and 1312 feet from the Castle of Dinan, Hotel du Theater offers a bar, a terrace and free Wi-Fi access. Room was was as we expected. Clean and comfortable and looked to have been recently renovated. The bed was very comfortable actually. But as others reviewed, it is over a bar so pretty noisy at night. Not enough to keep us up so it didn't bother us and we expected it. But if you need super quiet, this is not the place for you. Otherwise, it was centrally located and definitely worth the money. We didn't take advantage of breakfast but it looked yummy. Cafe, croissants, baguettes, confitures, etc.

Located 656 feet from Dinan’s ramparts, this hotel is set within private gardens and offers individually decorated rooms. The Hotel De La Porte Saint-Malo features an original design. The location is truly fabulous, the breakfast fresh, homemade, and delicious, and the rooms comfortable. But what really impressed us was the exceptional kindness and helpfulness of the hotel manager. Our daughter had fallen down a flight of steps and wrenched her neck. She was hurting and having trouble moving her head, and not speaking French, we weren't sure what to do. We asked the man at the front desk for help, and he called several local osteopaths until he found one nearby who was able to see her right away. One hour later, our daughter felt worlds better. Thank goodness! We were all able to enjoy the rest of our trip, and we will be forever grateful to the kindness of the staff at this hotel for going the extra mile.

Being inexperienced in planning all my train agendas, it took over 6 hrs to get to dinan via train from bayeux. To stay only 1 day then was too short. There are no taxi s at train station and the taxi number listed was always busy. After walking towards a busy street hoping to catch a cab was not working out, upon entering a small shop to ask salesperson to call me a cab, a young woman who lived in dinan offered to take me to the train station!!!! Wonderful French people. I enjoyed the medieval bldgs and found the 7 original bldgs that have survived!!
Dinan, for us, (family of four with two younger teenage kids) was a wonderful peaceful place, which also happened to be majestic due to its history. As a medieval town, it is fascinating to explore and learn about. The town and port is surrounded by nature and the port and town offer many ways to explore it (bike, boat, foot, car, open air tour bus). We didn’t spend a lot of time exploring old town as we had just completed sightseeing in Paris, London, Normandy, bath and oxford and were in need of rest. We did do the city walk though which was interesting. Renting bikes and biking the river paths was wonderful. Paths are flat and very enjoyable with gorgeous views the whole way. Bike or run one way and see the dam. Bike the other and see the old abbey of Lehon. On our last day, I noticed a pool by the abbey with a slide. If you have kids, that may be worth exploring. The boat rental was an enjoyable experience. We did one hour, which was plenty, especially since we had already biked to one end of the river. There were many people out doing the same or kayaking. We dined in the port au dinan both nights by the river and enjoyed our meals. One night at the waterside cafe and the next across the street at les voyager (not spelled correctly as I am Going off memory). We really enjoyed the salmon, lamb, moules (mussels) and goat cheese salad there. The bakery on the corner provided delicious fresh croissants and baguettes for our breakfast! The local supermarket is a short drive also if you want to stock up on food.
Having been many many times before we still enjoy our visits there. Lovely walks along river and many good places to visit. Good choice of restaurants and lovely French food. Will definitely be back again.
I would love to live in this charming town! Ty Clement was in the perfect location in the center of the old town. Natalie was very kind and helpful. We hope to return again soon! This great apartment is a hidden treasure right next to a scrumptious crêperie, quaint shops and it is in one of the half-timbered medieval homes. Thank you for an amazing vacation!!!
Great city for walking. Given the city has maintained its historic look and feel, it’s a great place to imagine yourself time traveling back to the 18th century. Make sure you sample the local cider, which is refreshing and the perfect mix of tart and sweet.
The city is beautiful and very walkable. The open air market has great variety. The best meal I had in France was at Fleur de Sel and I can't recommend it highly enough. The Church of St. Malo has some of the most spectacular stained glass windows I have seen. The ramparts surrounding the city are walkable and offer great views and photo opportunities.

Welcoming host. Clean room and a very comfortable bed. Bedroom was on second floor and looked out over beautiful cobbled street below. Hot, powerful shower. Excellent breakfast. Facility to make tea/coffee. Though situated on steep hill it was fine for us. We walked up into old Dinan in the afternoon, then later a short amble down to the port for a lovely meal at a reasonable price. Good selection of bars/restaurants both in the old town and at the port.

This is a unique property that was fun to stay in. It is two buildings joined together, the oldest from the 15th century. Stairs can be a bit tricky so if you have limited mobility it may not be the best place to stay. Proprietor was very helpful with luggage which was great. The property was very clean and comfortable. Parking structure was close and made our day trips out of town a breeze. I would stay again if I return to Dinan.

This adorable apartment was in a FANTASTIC location right in the heart of the old town! The key pickup was at a hotel owned by the same people. It was just outside the old city walls and very easy to find. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Awesome balcony with beautiful view of the clock tower! We could not have been happier with this choice!
