Dinan is a beautiful medieval town, with much character, excellent restaurants and shops. Close to the coast as well. Market day is Thursdays bd well worth visiting for the fruit, vegetables and amazing fish stalls.
Dinan is beautifu, walkable and people helpful and friendly. The coast nearby spectacular. We visited in November so the town was quiet and the weather variable - cold and wet to glorious sunshine! Don't go on a Monday out of season, everything's closed. Don't forget lunch, when you can find a restaurant open, is between 12 & 2pm and dinner after 7 (best book) otherwise you go hungry! We stayed in a nearby hamlet at the Hotel La Meffrais, a lovely place only a 10 minute drive away, which was really welcoming. (breakfast's were good but evening meals not available most evenings unfortunately so stock up with fruit and cheese. (there is a little apartment with a kitchen you can book) We'll be visiting again.
I like the picturesque historic centre of Dinan with its old timbered buildings and squares. There is an upper town where our hotel (Challonge) was, and the lower town reached by cobbled walkways, where there is a river and some nice riverside restaurants. The upper town also has various restaurants, and creperies. The restaurant next to our hotel Challonge was very nice, friendly service and a good menu with seafood and all sorts of other options. It is easy to walk around the historic centre of Dinan, as it is not too big although the streets are cobbled. There are a couple of markets during the week.
Beautiful old town with many buildings several centuries old, with it's own character, and with some very pretty well-preserved ancient streets. Lots of information boards around the town giving information about the history. Some steeply sloping streets, so walking around can be hard work! Lots of small artists' studios and shops. Lots of food options. In the context of other medieval towns across France and Europe it's not one to head for especially, but well worth a day out or an overnight stop if you happen to be nearby or passing through the region.
Dinan is an amazing town with so many historic properties. We ate at Le Cantorbery which is a traditional family restaurant and we would thoroughly recommend. It's lovely down by the Port and in the town there are lots of artisans selling their goods. A great stop for a long weekend.
Beautiful historic town. More churches and stained glass than in the usual square inch. Go down to the port and wander to lovely Lehon along the canal (a gentle 2 km stroll). Restaurants and other eateries in the port could stop you but keep going. It’s worth it in a way that brands of perfume aren’t. Superb Abbey and church in an idilic setting make it all worthwhile. Walking back up to Dinan is easy if you don’t have a heart condition. Parking at busy times is tricky especially on Thursdays when the market takes over the car parks in the old city. Free parking is available if you know where to look.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel is convenient to much of the "old town" sights and restaurants. The room was small but it was clean and comfortable. The hotel view for us was of the old chateau. The breakfast was adequate but they were obviously following COVID restrictions and guidelines which I appreciated greatly.
We loved the bed, and cleanliness, and even though we arrvied around 11:30pm they welcomed us! Also, we loved having parking lot, even though we did not use the sauna, but It looked great! It was 5 minutes from dinan centre, and good place to go mont saint-michel, and saint malo.
The location was outstanding, right in the medieval center. Location more than compensated for the parking which was free but a few blocks away. However, you could pull up to unload. The proportions of the rooms, especially the living/dining room, are beautiful. Beds are fine.
Amazing authentic place located in the most beautiful street of Dinan. I recommend to stay here if you want to travel in time. The hosts are very kind and the breakfast was excellent. You can park your car on the port for free (10 min walk)
Beautiful hotel and room. Fantastic location with views over one of the main squares of Dinan from the room. We could go everywhere in Dinan on foot and even if in the end we did not use it, it was handy to have a restaurant on-site
The hotel is well-situated in a central location that allows you to walk to areas of interest. The room had amenities such as extra pillows and and instant coffee with biscuits which was a nice touch.
Dinan
The location is perfect, is in the heart of Dinan, close to all restaurants and stores. Possibly to park near by for free. I recommend this place
