Hotel De La Porte Saint-Malo, Cit'Hotel le Challonge, and Brit Hotel Spa Le Connetable got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Dinan.
Beautiful medieval walled town with timbered houses and cobbled streets. Also a port on the river below the town. Plenty of bars and restaurants, but take note of their opening times as they seemed a bit random. Most of the town is walkable but some of the streets are very steep. Parking is a bit tricky although there is usually space in the Hotel de Ville car park. Trains and buses are in ready supply for further afield, which we used for Dinard/St Malo. And don't miss Dinan Lehon which is only a short walk along the riverside path.
Beautiful medieval town which had many historic buildings in great condition. Apparently it didn't get bombed during WWII. Minimal traffic, cobblestone streets, lots of gorgeous flowers on the properties. Pretty little harbor which used to be an important shipping center. Nice walking paths, excellent views from the hilltop over the river, the valley and the old buildings. Also a thriving artist community with tiny shops filled with unique wares.
Dinan is a very charming town, very easy to explore on foot, in fact, it is the way to do it, parking is not easy, but having said that, we did not use our "Parking Permit" for one of the underground car parks. Our apartment was right by the market square, making it very central, and easy to explore the little streets of the old town. Thursday is market day, well worth a visit (and a shop!). We had all our meals at home, as trying to work out when the various restaurants were open in the evening, was somewhat tricky. I would certainly recommend a visit to this lovely place.
Dinan is a beautiful medieval town, with much character, excellent restaurants and shops. Close to the coast as well. Market day is Thursdays bd well worth visiting for the fruit, vegetables and amazing fish stalls.
Dinan is beautifu, walkable and people helpful and friendly. The coast nearby spectacular. We visited in November so the town was quiet and the weather variable - cold and wet to glorious sunshine! Don't go on a Monday out of season, everything's closed. Don't forget lunch, when you can find a restaurant open, is between 12 & 2pm and dinner after 7 (best book) otherwise you go hungry! We stayed in a nearby hamlet at the Hotel La Meffrais, a lovely place only a 10 minute drive away, which was really welcoming. (breakfast's were good but evening meals not available most evenings unfortunately so stock up with fruit and cheese. (there is a little apartment with a kitchen you can book) We'll be visiting again.
I like the picturesque historic centre of Dinan with its old timbered buildings and squares. There is an upper town where our hotel (Challonge) was, and the lower town reached by cobbled walkways, where there is a river and some nice riverside restaurants. The upper town also has various restaurants, and creperies. The restaurant next to our hotel Challonge was very nice, friendly service and a good menu with seafood and all sorts of other options. It is easy to walk around the historic centre of Dinan, as it is not too big although the streets are cobbled. There are a couple of markets during the week.
We love visiting this comfortable hotel, which is beautifully situated on the banks of the river in the port of Dinan. Just a few (very uphill) minutes’ walk to the town and with plenty of bars and restaurants within a short stroll, the location is just perfect. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the free parking is a real bonus. The breakfast is generous and tasty - especially the croissants filled with raspberry and pistachio! Quiet, with airy rooms, comfy beds, squeaky clean, modern bathrooms, this hotel is a real favourite.
Hotel is very well located in city centre with entrance to the old city across the street. Bus stops for travel to Dinard, and Rennes across the street. Train station is a short walk. Staff were all quite pleasant. Breakfast was nicely presented, but basic, except the fresh squeezed orange juice was +++! The bike theme in the rooms was cool and little touches like the brake lever hooks were neat. Nice lobby area too with a bar.
The location is excelent, next to the castle in the heart of Dinan. The well-designed room is a compensate for its small size. The breakfast is rich and of high quality. Close parking of the hotel is a massive advantage for those coming in a private car, like us.
Friendly, helpful and generous hosts. Amazing location right next to the old town. Great breakfast and very reasonable room rates. I never post reviews but logged on to write this as you should definitely stay at this hotel for your trip to Dinan.
