It was easy to get around by tram.
It was easy to get around by tram. We enjoyed dinner at some good local restaurants including La Girole. It was worth a trip in the Grenoble-Bastille cable car to get tremendous views of the city and of the surrounding mountains.

The hotel is situated at the end of a tram line I originally wanted to go by tram however you have to buy a ticket and then verify it before you get on the tram. The cost of a ticket is 2 euros, the tram stop only sells a book of 10 tickets so I walked. Grenoble is full of motorized bikes,scooters, scateboards all traveling at speed some very fast, if you are faint of heart perhaps it’s not a place for you to go to

Grenoble is a lovely place, great history, nice views, amazing food. But this place is irretrievably ruined by the street crime and the apathy of the police and local authorities. Our car was parked on a paid and secured parking, but we found it with 3 broken windows in the morning. It was like a natural disaster happened through the night, because literally every third car at the parking and on the streets was vandalized and broken. It took us 7 hours to deal with police where we experienced the greatest level of apathy first hand.

There are many restaurants, shops and supermarkets in town. Close to tourist attraction (Bastille - cable car). It was extremely warm during summer when I stayed. It may be good in spring, fall or winter.

Grenoble is a big city but we stayed in the Old Town which...
Grenoble is a big city but we stayed in the Old Town which was nice. We were right on pedestrian mall which was convenient for shopping, restaurants and cafes. Lots of local parking options. 5 min walk to river where we took a cable car to the Bastille which was great. Can also walk to and or down. Where we were staying there were quite a few homeless people around and they were pretty quiet during the day, but later in the afternoon they got rowdy and two of them got into a fight and their dogs were baking. This went on for quite a while. Overall, we stayed one night in Grenoble and we felt it was enough.

With the weather being hot this site was uncomfortable as it had no airconditioning and the only window opened onto the street.
