Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! A good town to visit for a weekend. Lots of shops and restaurants. A great beach with a nice esplanade. I wouldn't recommend the restaurants for vegans, because there are very few veg options (except for salads loaded with non-vegan toppings). The covered market offers some nice, fresh foods. A small, quiet resort without being stuffy. There are lots of good restaurants and there are so many seafood options. We can spend our time freely. Recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time or walking, hiking as there are rare sightseeing place. Nice uncrowded beach getaway. Good place to base out of as its close to Biarritz and San Sebastien. After visiting most of the Basque Coast St. Jean de Luz was nice place to come back to as it was a very relaxed atmosphere. It was a lovely little city.
It was a lovely little city. A good place to take a break before heading on to Paris. If I go there again I may stay a few more days. Also the absolute best baked goods I’ve tasted. The church were Louis XIV married was beautiful too.Guest review bysylviaUnited States

Lovely breakfast-lots of options and great bread and teas. Location right in the town and near the station and port is really great and even though they run a lot of music events till late the sound proofing in the rooms is very good so you can still get a good nights sleep.
