We were in Aberdeen for a family Graduation. The hotel was in a great location. The adjoining rooms were fabulous for myself, my sister and 2 nieces and would definitely book those rooms again. The bar was beautiful and we all came back there after the graduation. We were only there 1 night and no time to try food so will do that next time.

FAQs about hotels in Aberdeen

Charm, Granite, Energy and Blooms

With a gently rolling landscape, Aberdeen moves elegantly between sandy beaches, picturesque stone houses, and blooming gardens. As Scotland’s 3rd-largest city, it is home to important universities, a busy harbour, and is a hub for the oil industry in the North Sea.

Walk along the Union Street ‘Granite Mile’, and visit some of the historic places like the Town House, Castlegate, or ‘Provost Skene’s House’. Don’t miss the Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum, and do some shopping in the city’s trendy shops. Choosing hotels in Aberdeen’s city centre allows you to explore this compact city on foot.

The charming Old Town is filled with bookstores, old buildings like the King’s College, and student cafés. The city won the ‘Britain in Bloom’ prize a stunning 10 times for its well-kept gardens.

The local airport offers direct train links with the central railway and coach station. Staying in a B&B, a cottage, or a hotel near Aberdeen Airport is a way to avoid the last-minute rush, while enjoying the surrounding green hills.

Aberdeen has been going downhill for about 20 years but the decline has really accelerated recently. Although I'm originally from here and enjoy coming back to visit family and friends I wouldn't recommend a holiday here. Only come here if your visit is absolutely necessary. The city is in terminal decline.

We only had a short stay, lots of architecture and historical exhibits for us to see in the city centre, ie Art Gallery, Maritime Museum and harbour were really worthwhile visiting. Don't like the seagulls, they are like vultures and their size:-)

Aberdeen is an interesting city with a good choice of pubs and restaurants. The old fishing village of Footdee is within walking distance of the hotel and is so picturesque with its old cottages and pretty gardens. The Maritime Museum gives a fascinating insight into the city's past and the fishing and oil industries in an attractively designed museum space linking a former church and an old house opposite the Ibis Hotel. Old Aberdeen with the beautiful St Machar's Cathedral, the old Townhouse and interesting cobbled streets, along with the colleges of the university is well worth a visit and can be reached on foot or by bus. Duthie Park has wonderful glasshouses with magnificent floral displays and an amazing cactus collection. The Gordon Highlanders Museum is well worth a visit and shows a wealthy residential suburb as its setting. The tour of the replica WW1 trench really brings home the reality of the horror of that war. The cafe is great and the museum garden peaceful and beautiful.

I think a weekend in Aberdeen would be ideal.

I think a weekend in Aberdeen would be ideal. Although the city itself is small, if you want to explore its nicer details, at least 2-3 days including exploring short and long hikes would get the best out of your experience. Leave one day for the city centre and the museums, galleries, universities etc., and at least one day to immerse yourself in nature. Having lived in Aberdeen for 4 years as a student prior to visiting it as a tourist a decade later, this time my walk included watching seals, which I had never experienced before! So there's a lot to do despite the small size. I would also suggest exploring some food while you are there. Buterries are my weakness - although they are an acquired taste. Do some research on the chippies (Rosemount Chippy is my favourite, as is the Thains bakery).

Fantastic room. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Modern and fresh. Great, friendly service throughout my 3 night stay. Normally stay in a chain hotel in the city centre for business trips to Aberdeen but would prefer to support a local and independent business. Food, service and ambience in the bar very good as well as breakfast. Will only book The Palm Court from now on for future work trips.

Situated in the heart of Aberdeen close to Union Street shops, Union Square shopping centre, bus station, train station, harbour, and airport bus link you couldn't ask for a better location. I had arranged for a suitcase to be delivered to the hotel by a courier and the hotel staff were kind enough to keep it safe behind reception for me until I checked in later the same day.

First time I stayed at this hotel. From check in to check out everything was spot on. Friendly / helpful staff, good breakfast and while rooms are smallish, they are clean and have everything you need. Only slight grumble is that bed could have been a bit more comfortable. Other than that, well done to the Holiday Inn Express city centre Aberdeen and its staff.
