We were lucky enough to be visiting during the duck race weekend but unfortunately couldn't stay for the whole day! There are independent shops, lots of charity shops, a lovely bakery and a very well stocked tap room. Would certainly visit again if I had reason to be at that end of the country.

It's a beautiful little town, full of interesting shops and cafes. It has an open air swimming pool and you can hire boats on the river. Add to that its a 30 min drive to multiple beaches and you simply cant find a batter place to stay.

Nice walks around Puddingmore.

Nice walks around Puddingmore. Loads of independent shops and cafes - Bailey's, Twyfords and Old School Coffee Ltd. Go to The Quay for great views by the river. Sit by St Michael's church on the benches for great views on the hill, especially during sunset. Try the local Seppings sausages - there's a butchers and they are used in most chip shops and on cafe menus.

We wandered around town, experienced Ignite at the church, hung out at the hotel bar by the river, took the big dog ferry to lunch at the community pub and had a day trip out to Southwold. The weather was good, much cooler than at home in the middle of a heat wave! Beccles is a lovely old town with a good community feel. If we'd stayed longer I'd definitely have visited the Lido.

Beccles is a friendly market town located in northeast Suffolk, close to Lowestoft. The town offers a a variety of local stops and eateries that offer tasty food. We enjoyed the time we spent in the town and at The Quay - a picturesque entry to the fens and Norfolk Broads.

Very clean and good value. Generous portions of food in the restaurant and all the staff were very friendly. Dogs are welcome and there’s a great walk nearby down along the river into Beccles or Geldeston.
