Chirnside is a quiet village about 7 miles west of Berwick on Tweed but easily accessible to the A1. It was an excellent base from which to tour Northumberland, the Borders and the coastline north of Berwick through to Edinburgh
Food is fantastic and staff brilliant. Location great for exploring the coast etc. Rooms comfy and good views. Could have changed menu on the Sunday as was the same 3 choices for main as the Saturday.
Great cottage plenty of room in it very clean , lovely walks round about it ,plenty of places to visit quite near , definitely need a car , lovely hotel just round the corner to eat and drink .our two granddaughters loved it plenty of room in cottage for them to run about , we're only back home a week and they're already asking when we're going back
Loved everything about it from our great welcome friendly chats in bar over a drink and fabulous evening meals the food was exceptional! then a comfortable nights sleep. Worst thing nothing really but would hav liked some kind of breakfast even a coissant and coffee .
We didn't visit the village of Chirnside as we were attending a wedding at nearby Wedderburn Castle but the whole area we drove though was beautiful countryside, Chirnside is perfectly located for visiting the coast or going further into the Borders, a place full of history and well worth a visit, the Chirnside Hall Hotel we stayed at was fantastic and in a perfect location, the homemade shortbread worth a mention and great hospitality
Our first visit to Chirnside a lovely peaceful location. The local pub was busy with friendly locals enjoying a selection of meals.we didn't eat here as we had first been to Edinburgh though the food looked good. We had a delicious meal at The Allanton Inn approx 5 miles away the following day and I believe booking in advance is recommended.
Just what we wanted , quiet , comfortable country hotel . Lovely food
