Beautiful village, equipped with pubs, and lovely cafes, food at the Bull pub is good but rather expensive, area is very popular, even on weekday evenings, parking can be a bit difficult but we generally found space in the village hall car park.
The Museum of Art and Craft is lovely: compact, making it possible to absorb what you're seeing. There are interesting shops, businesses and houses to see. And at least two good pubs (we sampled the excellent food at The Bull and enjoyed the beer and garden at The White Horse).
The museum and Art Gallery/shop dedicated to Eric Gill is terrific and there are many interesting Tudor buildings . There is easy access to Ditchling Beacon and the South Downs Way with wonderful views of rolling farm land. Many varieties of birds wildflowers and butterflies can be seen. There are great tea shops . One has a Vera Lynne theme with waitresses in black frocks with white frilly aprons and 30 s music playing .The Green Welly also does great cakes and light lunches. The White Horse wins a special mention for the varieties of dog which can be seen in an evening, a lovely garden and good food . The Bull has more sophisticated and pricier food , great staff and decor.
A typically English village, a church dating back to the 1200s, two old pubs, a couple cafe's popular with cyclists and walkers. Country lanes and walks around the village are popular. A good base for touring the south Downs.
Wonderful modern interior decorating Beautiful bathrooms Upgraded to a very comfortable quiet room for one night of our 3 night stay . Very hot but Dyson fans available . Roberts radios in all bedrooms, colour matched to decor! Really excellent food. Beautiful and well kept kitchen garden Ditchling is a wonderful historic village with a brilliant museum/gallery/shop
