Situated in Littleport, The Gate House is just 2 minutes’ walk from Littleport Railway Station. With free Wi-Fi throughout, this award-winning modern house also offers free onsite parking. Being a rail fan I appreciated that my room looked out to the station - so it will be a good place to stay for those travelling by train. All mod cons available in the room - impressed they were there but I couldn't use them! Amazing selection of cereals etc available at breakfast and a good variety of freshly prepared fruit which put to shame the 5-star hotel I stayed at recently.

The accommodation we selected wasn't ideal for older people but Ely city is quite nice with plenty of shops and the massive cathedral, minimum entrance fee to the cathedral £9 (concessions £6) plus more for different areas such as up the towers or the stained glass museum area.
Lovely little market town with a superb cathedral, and lovely people welcoming you and with excellent guides for the tours. The stained glass museum is more than worth the "interesting" stairs to reach it. Lots of independent shops and not too many of the usual high street shops. A traditional market, only 1 clothes stall but produce, cheese, fish and even Cromer crabs. The fudge shop is well worth a visit too.
A lovely small city, full of character, wonderful old buildings. Lots of things in walking distance. Visit the Cathedral and take a walk down by the river. The antiques warehouse there is great. Have a cream tea at the Almonry cafe at the rear of the Cathedral or eat at The Cutter by the river.
Accommodation was super . You need to sort your food. You need a new chef. We ordered a sandwich when we arrived we waited 1hr &20mins for it to arrive worst sandwich I've ever been served. Breakfast scrambled egg like rubber . No complimentary water in room only 2 t.bags ? mean. Shame as room lovely. Would visit Ely again as we liked very much especially Cathederal & market. Short visit not time to do too much. Sort your food &service we would return. Thank you.
Ely is an attractive small city with a stunning cathedral and an attractive waterfront. It has very good rail connections for Cambridge, London, Peterborough, Norwich etc and a very good centre for exploring the east of England. It's much easier and cheaper to stay in Ely and travel by train if you want to go to Cambridge than to stay in Cambridge itself. There are some nice cafes and restaurants too.
Very nice for a short break. A visit to the cathedral is a must for any visitor, one of the most impressive buildings I've ever visited. The riverside and Jubilee gardens are also very impressive.

Staff are friendly and accommodating (we arrived one hour early but were made to feel most welcome). A good range of choices available for breakfast. The property is close to a main road (about 5-7 mins drive from Ely City centre) but the accommodation is quiet, also very comfortable. Early morning visitors to the rear garden in the form of wild rabbits which nibbled their way to within a few feet of our window were an enjoyable bonus. Warm and friendly banter with staff was a nice 'ice breaker' between other guests and ourselves.

The location of this village inn was close to Ely. We chose this hotel because it was dog friendly and it did not disappoint us despite some negative reviews on your web site. The staff were great. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The breakfast was freshly cooked which makes a change from some more pricey hotels who only provide buffet style breakfast. The room was very clean. Tea and coffee in the room was plentiful. There was adequate car parking. Thank you Red Lion for a pleasant stay.

This hotel is absolutely stunning, it is right in the centre, the rooms are amazing. Extremely well decorated, everything is so comfy. The bathroom was stunning, everything looked brand new and shiny. Could not fault this hotel at all. The man who checked us in could not of been more helpful, felt like nothing we asked would of been too much for him, a really nice man. Breakfast was superb.

The staff was extremely helpful. We arrived before check-in and they took our bags and kept them for us while we explored the town. The room was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was excellent. We also ate in the dining room and that food was good at a good price. The location of the hotel was right in the heart of Ely, within sight of the magnificent cathedral.

This was such a lovely stay - the staff went out of their way to make sure we had all the help we needed with an early check-in, our own key, and a lovely big room too overlooking the stunning gardens. The whole hotel is immaculately clean and the breakfast was lovely too.

Peter and Gill were very welcoming hosts and the studio is beautiful. The kitchen had tea, coffee, etc. and the fridge had a pint of milk in. Easy journey to get into Ely or Cambridge. So much better than a hotel as I could cook for myself in the kitchen.
