Located opposite Ely Cathedral, the Poets House features a destination restaurant and a bar, along with free Wi-Fi. This boutique hotel is located in the heart of the historic city of Ely. What a great location, overlooking the cathedral and Cromwell’s House, very pretty views. The room was clean and pleasant and the copper bath was a beautiful touch. The bar was our favourite place, comfy chairs and couches was the best for afternoon tea. The breakfast food and service was very good.
Featuring a terrace and shared lounge, The Royal Standard is located in Ely, a 20-minute walk from Ely Cathedral. This 3-star inn offers room service, luggage storage space and free WiFi. This hotel is absolutely stunning, it is right in the centre, the rooms are amazing. Extremely well decorated, everything is so comfy. The bathroom was stunning, everything looked brand new and shiny. Could not fault this hotel at all. The man who checked us in could not of been more helpful, felt like nothing we asked would of been too much for him, a really nice man. Breakfast was superb.
The Swan on the River offers accommodations and a pub on the River Great Ouse in Littleport, 5.3 mi from Ely. Guests can enjoy a drink on the terrace overlooking the river, as well as the dining room.... The location on the river, the pleasant, "laid-back" atmosphere.
Pear Tree House Studio offers pet-friendly accommodations in Little Thetford, just 3 miles south of Ely. Very clean and comfortable. Milk, coffee, and tea provided. We were met by the host and shown round the property. We had a really enjoyable stay.

Uniquely beautiful Cathedral dominates this small city and a tour inside including the Stained Glass Museum cannot be missed. Great, eclectic independent shops as well as nice shopping precincts with the inevitable high street brand labels. Visit on a Saturday to include the food and craft markets, which add atmosphere an extra buzz to the square. On a sunny day, pick up a fresh pack lunch and walk a short distance down to the marina and enjoy a picnic lunch on a bench and take in the boats, swans and ducks. Can't wait to visit again!
The Pubs and their food were very good. Parking is a big Problem in Ely and the narrow roads can be quite nerve racking when cars are parked on both sides of the road. The river Ouse is well worth a visit with the Long boats and boat Yards. The Fens are also worth a visit and any nature lover, walker and bird watcher has their fair share to choose from around Ely. The A10 is a nightmare at rush hour and to be avoided if possible. We walked nearly everwhere as we were only 5 mins from the town centre and even down to the river was no Problem. The Cathedral Needs no comment as its history and architecture speaks for its self.
Ely is compact so getting around is easy. There are plenty of restaurants (I chose Eat Thai and was delighted), watering holes and hotels that do breakfast including for non-residents (eg The Lamb hotel). The cathedral is the centre piece and visible from just about everywhere. Station has good connections to Cambridge and London but also up to the Norfolk coast.
Visit the beautiful Cathedral, highlights include the lady chapel and the stained glass museum. Visit Oliver Cromwell's house. Visit the pretty riverside with tea-rooms, restaurants and parks (Jubilee park and children's play parks) Ely museum is interesting and house in the old gaol.
The Cathedral always fills me with awe it is magnificent. The town is very old with plenty to see and places to eat. We found a pleasant pub just off the main square which allowed us to take our pet dog inside.
Ely Cathedral, Stain Glass Museum, Cromwell Museum, Ely Museum, Riverside and Antiques Centre. New Leisure Park - almost completed. Walking can be difficult as it has a steep hill to riverside, but worth it. Along the Gallery go through Ely Park, cross Broad Street to Jubilee Gardens, another park. You are now on the waterfront. Several eateries available. For the discerning - The Poets House and Old Fire Engine House Restaurants in St Mary's Street.

Staff are friendly and accommodating (we arrived one hour early but were made to feel most welcome). A good range of choices available for breakfast. The property is close to a main road (about 5-7 mins drive from Ely City centre) but the accommodation is quiet, also very comfortable. Early morning visitors to the rear garden in the form of wild rabbits which nibbled their way to within a few feet of our window were an enjoyable bonus. Warm and friendly banter with staff was a nice 'ice breaker' between other guests and ourselves.
