There is superb walking around the village of Goodnestone and easy access to surrounding sites such as Canterbury, Walmer Castle and Deal. The pub is friendly but 'tired' and let down by a poor dinner menu not well prepared.
A small village with plenty of marked footpaths for walking and the Goodnestone Park and Gardens a visitor attraction. A variety of historic buildings to add interest when passing through. Community seems to be very strong.
Staff extremely accommodating which was lovely, menu was okay, fish and chips were lovely. Great atmosphere as there was a Halloween Party. The room was a good size with a nice comfy bed and the bed linen smelt lovely and clean. Breakfast was excellent, would recommend a visit.
If you like small villages with a great pub to stay in, in quiet surroundings but not far away form the sea then this could be it. Add the friendliness and hospitality of the Fitzwarren Arms, What more could you want?
Very close to Historic Canterbury, and with loads to see including walks following in the foot steps of Jane Austin. A great village Pub with friendly locals and Landlady. If you love Gin then give it a go there.
