This is the first time we have stayed in LLanberis and it was a lovely place to explore, even in February. The scenery is stunning with all the nearby snowcapped mountains and lovely walks including along to a very impressive waterful. The town was quiet but there were eating places open and the Lakeside Railway, Dolbardon Castle and Slate Museum were all worth a visit. There are 2 well stocked convenience stores but no supermarket. We came by bus from Bangor (having come by train from Kent). The town is compact and easy to walk around and has regular buses to Betws -y -Coed and Caernarvon. We ate at The Heights and Pete's Eats. Both good with large portions! Allports Fish and Chips also worth a visit. Tourist Information was pretty limited off season. Do your homework first.
Llanberis was quiet in February when we visited but a number of attractions were open. The Lakeside railway and the Slate Musum were 2 we visited The Museum was free and the railway gave great views. Both had a cafe. We ate at Petes Eats and The Heights. Both offered large portions and quick service - and were open late. LLanberis is not large but interesting to walk round with a mixture of shops to visit, but no supermarkets. Plenty of walks to suit all and the Snowdon Mountain railway of course from March to October. Good bus links with cheap fares - to Caernavon, Bangor, Bedgegellert, and Bets-y-coed.
Llanberis is such a wasted opportunity of a village. It is the ideal stop for walking up Snowden and yet the range of good pubs and restaurants is lamentable. The place has little to recommend it which is such a shame as it has fabulous scenery all round and plenty of potential.
Llanberis is a beautiful village in northwest Wales, on the southern bank of the lake Llyn Padarn and at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Getting a train to the top of this mountain is an unforgettable experience.
Amazing location, absolutely breath taking unfortunately the weather was a bit disappointing the second day and had to cut the trip short otherwise I would’ve stayed much longer, would love to go back to the Welsh highlands, great place if you need to get a way from the busy city life. Favourite activity beside the walks through the breathtaking Snowdon reservoirs was zip lining, absolute must on everyone’s bucket list!!
Llanberis is a great place to stay if you're into the great outdoors and is especially suited to the more active people who are into mountain climbing, serious walkers and so on. There are no award winning restaurants here but "Pete's Eats" is by far the most popular place to eat but it is cheap and cheerful and has a good range of menus to chose from. For the adventurous amount you there are at least three good shops to get all your gear from should you forget to pack something.Crib Goch outdoor world is my favourite and the staff there know their products inside out. The town has a Spar and Subway where you can stock up on food and bacic essentials, a chip shop and a few other eateries. The mountain railway to Snowdon summit is now closed for the winter period but great in the summer if you don't fancy the slog to walk up. The slate museum is a good place to visit as is the tour of the "Electric Mountain".
Staff was outstanding and so cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble and a massive thanks to Darren for his cheerful and professional attitude at breakfast. It was a great way to start the day. Location of the hotel is perfectly placed for the snowdonia railway, start of the Llanberis way, and the rest of the attractions in this area. Also the bus stop for the bus to pen y pass stops right outside the hotel, perfect. Will vist again just for the hotel and staff, snowdonia was a bonus. Again thank you.
Really great little inn and pub. The pub was mostly locals so it was fun to get a feel for the people who lived in the area. Bed was very comfy, fresh towels every day. The room was a bit small but perfect for a solo traveler. You can't beat the location to get up Snowdon, to the lake, and to the waterfall nearby!
Fab location. Llanberis is a gorgeous village and this place was just a 10 minute walk to the Llanberis path up to Snowdon. The owner was a lovely chatty lady always available at the ring of a bell.
Gorgeous room, perfect location for Snowdon (esp Llanberis path, walking distance), bath for a good soak after a long walk, comfy bed, snacks. Lots of choice for breakfast.
Cheap and convenient location within the centre of Llanberis. Easy access to Snowdon footpaths and local facilities. Room was clean and had ensuite.
The best B&B ever stay. Staff were friendly. The room was lovely. Breakfast was delicious. Beautiful garden to hang out.
