Hotel in Southborough
Innkeeper's Lodge Tunbridge Wells, Southborough is a restored 18th-century lodge, set within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The front of house staff were very helpful, well informed and polite. We were just passing through and if we happen to do that again we would come back and stay
Visiting Penshurst Place and gardens was considered when deciding to stay here. The village is small, and the picturesque buildings are ancient. There is a walk alongside penshurst place ,that has a public footpath . With wonderful views across the fields of sheep and cattle grazing.
· Terrible Leicester arms said they cancelled my overnight booking and have never paid me my money back . Leicester arms say booking.com have my money and Booking.com say Leicester arms have taken my money. This kind of petty money grabbing I can do without. It does not give one confidence in a Hotels goodwill to guests. Give it a wide birth.
Penshurst is a pretty hamlet with thatched cottages, a House and gardens to visit and a very impressive church. There is a good public house which serves as hotel and restaurant and a very quaint tea room. There is also a village shop for essentials.
Excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside and National Trust properties and castles. Many good pubs and good food in the area. Penhurst Place opposite the pub is a must if you enjoy exploring properties and gardens.. The Spotted Dog nearby serves amazing home cooked comfort food with good ales too.
Loved Hever Castle and Chartwell House. I was sorry that we arrived too late to go into Penshurst Place. Apparently there were more castles in close proximity that I would have Liked to have seen. Ate at the Greyhound Pub, amazing.
Beatiful historic village with a lot to explore particularly if you enjoy history and the outdoors. Beautiful walks with Penshurst place right on the dorrstep, an absolute must if you visit Penshurst. Walk around the estate free of charge and take in the peace, beauty and excellent scenery. The estate of Penshurst also bears scars from the war with several areas hit by bombs which can be seen near to the Sidney Oak tree. Dogs are allowed around the estate but to be kept on a lead due to livestock. Dogs are not permitted into Penshurst Place. Wonderful church with ancient buildings around, dating back to the 1400's. An old Dole table (a table where food and items would be left for the poor at certain times of the year) exists here too at the church, a rarity to be seen. Steeped in ancient history with the most beautiful countryside surrounding it, Penshurst also has a cafe and other little interests at its hub, the village.
