The restaurants are big disappointed, the rest is fine. For the restaurants, the bills are expensive, the portions are small, kindness and hospitality is not good. The worst experience in Greece for me.
Very hard to find rental car and expensive. Bus calendar could be more accessible. The portside restaurants and cafes are very nice during afternoon and night. Mesta, Pyrgi, Komi beach, Mastic Museum, Emporios beach are must see places.
Most people think of Greece in terms of white walls, blue windmills, and terracotta. But Chios is much more broken cobblestone and crimson reds. It's more the smells of octopi and caffeine. The men are coarsened sailors, and the women variegated and arresting. I was not a tourist here, I was an outsider. People were endlessly baffled and amazed that I would travel from Colorado → Chios, and even more so to do so alone. And yet, everyone seemed to know my last name - and a dozen teacher, preachers, soccer players, baristas and friends with the same name! But I didn't come here to be charmed, though I found the beauty in it's alleys and evenings anyway. I came here to face the unknown. And I did that internally, historically, familialy, and emotionally. The blank canvas of Chios now has a notarized history, and its own picturesque place in my heart. I recommend you go, but go with an openness to be part of the community, not catered by it.
For me it was a trip down memory lane, I visited Chios about 30 years ago. As we arrived to the town with the ferry and initially I did not find anything that I recognised in the town of Chios itself. But when we explored the island by car nothing has changed in all these years. Pyrgi is just so pretty, this time we made it to Mesta, Olimpoi and Vessa too. It is really easy to have a rental car! Distances are short, the roads are in a good condition. The island is totally beautiful, I am looking forward to visit it again and for sure!
The restaurants and food were very good and typical of Greece. The best part of our stay was the bus tour of the medieval towns - seeing the mountainous countryside with rolling hills and valleys; olive and mastic trees in abundance. The villages you pass through are so different to the Port.
A big island so you’ll need atleast 2-3 days, with flight delays we only had one night and half a day! The must-see is the Masticha Museum, it’s beautiful! Also check out the villages of Pyrgi and Mesa for a step back in time! A great place to eat in Chios Town is Kardamo.
Chios
The location was truly excellent. Minutes walk from the port and a slew of excellent restaurants. The room was as advertised. I typically choose hotels based off of the bathroom pics and this place did not disappoint. The staff (Klio) was the best. We had to change our check in time a few times because we were coming from Mesta and she was super patient with us and was great despite our terrible lateness. She also helped accommodate our bags after we checked before our flight so I have no complaints.
The hotel is very simple to the city center and the sea view from the rooms is very good, the architecture of the facility, the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff were very successful. The breakfast was very good according to Greek standards. It is a hotel that I can choose again without hesitation in the Chios island program once.

Good location. Very comfortable beds. The room was small, but it had the most effective use of space I think I've ever seen in a hotel room, so it didn't feel small.
