I always pass rapidly through Igoumenitsa. This time there was a port strike and I was forced to stay two extra days and nights, and I discovered it is a very nice town. Probably I will always spend the night there again when I pass through. I can recommend the restaurants Ambrosia and Navtaki (near the fantastic Holiday Zigos hotel) and -- in town -- the small fish restaurant Palio Limani. I would also recommend the Archaeological Museum, which is full of interesting objects and very well presented and organized.
A small city with a very nice and clean beach. If you like to swimming in the sea or stay all day close to the sea then this city is the right place. Unfortunately there’s nothing to see except the sea beach.
Walked along the beach front, went for a nice dinner. The only complaint I would have is when you walk off the boat from Brindisi there is no signage or instructions to where to exit. We were not the only people confused :)
The thing that upset us the most was no hot water Showered in cold water .. The room very basic and needed updating so I guess you get what you pay for just an over night stay No bed side mats and that’s cold in the winter which we were .. long flight of stairs and no hand rail which is difficult with cases . Did drive through the town which looked quite good No wouldn’t return or recommend But The owner was really accomodating with the fact I wrongly booked the date so didn’t charge me for the change which was really nice ..
We were with friends who know the area so we ventured out to do things that we may not have done if we were along such as renting John boats to go out to the islands and check out the private beaches and cave diving, various beach clubs, restaurants, etc.
Igoumenitsa is mainly a connection point between Ionian islands, mainland attractions and the international lines in the Ionian sea. Nothing really interesting, but OK for a night. If you have a car and a little more time, I suggest to spend the night in Plataria (6-7 km) or Sivota (15 km), anyway it's not so bad.
We didn’t get in from the ferry until midnight but the lovely staff member called Alex was there to greet us. Really nice hotel with a fantastic breakfast. The lady on reception the last next day was also really lovely and couldn’t do enough for us! Will definitely be staying again the next time we drive through. Dog friendly too which is a bonus for us and our puppy
Stayed at this hotel to take an early morning ferry to Kerkyra. Directly across the street from Igoumenitsa port for ferries. Good value for the price. Nice breakfast. Clean rooms. Excellent proximity to many wonderful restaurants and cafes. Really pretty balcony view of the sea.
Igoumenitsa
We have stayed one night before to take the ferry... Very clean and cozy place, 3-5 min. from the center and the new port of Igoumenitsa... and of course, the real treasure of this hotel is Mr. Pavlos, which will make your stay unforgettable! Thank you, Pavlos!

Great location very near the New Port; quiet, clean and spacious rooms (mountain view recommended); friendly owners. Great value for money! We can definitely recommend this place for a night or two when stopping over in Igoumenitsa.
Igoumenitsa
Great instructions, great welcome, great base for taking the ferry early in the morning. Bed, toilet and a mini kitchen. When we will come again to Igoumenitsa for sure we will use it as a stop over just not to sleep in the car.
Igoumenitsa
Everything went well: we arrived very late at night (we were traveling by Ferry...) and our host immediately made us feel at home... breakfast was very good and everything went well: our first choice for a night in Igoumenitsa.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean and good size. The price was excellent. There was a large bakery just a minute walk from the hotel. The ferry to Corfu is right across the hotel.
