“The Stay” is truly the perfect place to stay for anyone wanting to explore the surroundings of Igoumenitsa or for those arriving or departing by ferry. Close to the center, yet much quieter. Everything was perfect, and even with our two dogs, there wasn’t the slightest problem. Close to the port, we came in late at 23:30. The host waited for us. The room was New and very good quality, beds are nice, rooms has good temperature. We didn’t use aircon even it was available.

I loved the fact that it was so close to the port. Perfect for a late arrival on the boat. Just 300 metres from the gate of the port. Lovely room. The hosts offered us tea, coffee or wine upon arrival, we chose the wine and it came with a little cake. A really nice touch. In the morning we had lovely coffee on the balcony, free with the room, with cake. The shutters are amazing and block out all light so we slept till 9:30 am. This is a really nice place and the owners are wonderful hosts.

Igoumenitsa is an ideal starting point to visit lots of lovely areas of mainland Greece. The beaches North of the town towards Albania are lovely and the water clean. Outside Igoumenitsa going south there are lots of bays and hotels to visit and some lovely unspoilt countryside and villages. A visit to the Acheron Gorge is really worthwhile.

When I was in Igoumenitsa, I checked out Zanzibar —...

When I was in Igoumenitsa, I checked out Zanzibar — definitely a must-visit! The vibe was great, the food was amazing, and the sunset views were stunning. We had a pre-wedding gathering there, went for a swim, and the staff were super friendly, which made the whole experience even better.

I recommend a visit to the Archeological museum of...

I recommend a visit to the Archeological museum of Igoumenitsa. This museum is excellent with friendly and knowledgeable staff and an amazing collection including exhibits from a recent exploration near to Igoumenitsa. Igoumenitsa castle is worth a visit. It is close to the town centre and an excellent viewpoint for the port area as well as being well preserved with informative signage. Walk along the promenade from the ferry port towards the beach. Rent a bicycle and cycle to the beach. Order souvlaki and a beer from the street cafes along the promenade.

The city is a typical Greek city dependent on sea trade and...

The city is a typical Greek city dependent on sea trade and transport. It also has nice beaches but the harbour as hub for the surrounding islands of Corfu and other islands like Paxos in the Ionian Sea, and therefore there is a lot of sea traffic on the water as well in the city as the main motorway leads from Igoumentisa to Thessaloniki.

I liked the fact that everything is within walking distance.

I liked the fact that everything is within walking distance. Caught a fairy to Corfu and spent the day there also. If we had a car it would have been so much better but was too scared to drive on the wrong side of the road being from Australia lol. The thing that was a disappointment was the fact that there are step’s everywhere and if you are disabled there is no chance to get in and out of shops etc… Foot paths were uneven and too many stray cats and dogs.

We used the Hotel as a stopover during our holiday, we were using the port as a point of transfer over to the island of Corfu. The hotel and location cannot be faulted. We found a small taverna within 50 meters of the hotel where we ate for the evening.

This unpretentious hotel perfectly met our needs for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. The location is excellent—right on the main boulevard and close to cafes and restaurants. The view of the Ionian Sea is stunning, especially at sunset. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets provided. The bathroom is spacious and well-appointed. A major plus is the on-site parking, as finding a spot for your car in this part of the city can be quite challenging. The staff is polite and attentive.

A wonderful apartment with a common area with a kitchen and a laundry, not far away from the port of Igoumenitsa and it was nice to meet Maria, one of the best hosts, very helpful. There are some restaurants reaching without a car or a drive of 20 minutes to Sagiada for fresh fish in front of the sea. We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay!

Everything was great. We stayed one night at the hotel as we were visiting Corfu. We arrived in the morning and parked our car at the hotel before the official check-in time. We spent the whole day exploring Corfu and returned to the hotel in the evening. The hotel is close to the port, and the staff is very friendly.
