The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful — from the very first moment, they made a difference. Everything about the hotel was amazing: the private pool of the room, the stunning view, and the overall facilities. But above all, it was the staff that truly stood out.

We came to visit the ancestral home of our family in Samos. Our Grandparents were from two other towns on the Island. We visited 8 spots on the Island and were completely convinced that staying in Pythagoreion was the best choice. It offered convenience, sights, food, and history beyond anywhere else on Samos. Although small, it packs a big wallop of enjoyment.

Pythagoroion is the place where the city of Samos was located in ancient times. The port of Pythagorion is the oldest man-made harbor. The old quay wall can still be found near the Hotel Tarsanas, from where the sacred path leads along the beach to the Temple of Hera in Ireon. Above the town there is an ancient amphitheater where events are still held. From the amphitheater, a path leads up to the Spigliani monastery with its cave chapel. Also from the amphitheater you can easily find the way to the Eupalinos Tunnel, the oldest tunnel that was carved into the rock by counter-boring. It ensured the water supply of ancient Samos.

Pythagoria is a beautiful small town with a lovely little marina where ferries, fishing boats and private boats dock. There are lots of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, bakeries and souvenir shops. There are lots of cats all taken care of by Samos Street Cats. We will definitely return.

While one could chill in the villa and town for days, the best part is to explore the area. Best done with rental car (cars are incredibly cheap and plentiful in Samos).
Visit historic sites (Hereion, Museum etc.) early in the morning; beaches mid day; chill in villa afternoon before dinner. Don't miss sites outside of the town like great beaches and towns (we liked Mykali, the eastern side of the island, and Paralia Pithagorio). The town of Ireon has some great fish restaurants.

Rented a car for a day and toured the whole island. The town itself is walkable; bus transportation to visit other towns and beaches is scarce. Environmental pollution is present due to car rentals. Only electrical vehicles should be used in such a delicate environment.

Pythagorion was an amazing little town... beautiful harbour front full of restaurants, and an amazing collection of boats tied up in the harbour. We chose it mainly for the port as arriving from Kusadasi. Pythagoreio offered beaches that the other port, Samos Town seemed to lack. The beaches are all pebble beaches and it does get busy in peak times for sunbeds.
It is also close to several historical features that you can either walk to or get a taxi. We did a coach tour of the Island which was worth doing and gave us a good idea of what other things to see. We also took a local bus to Vathy which does a circular tour of the Island.

Staff were excellent. Room's are very cozy, traditionally designed and cleaned everyday. Small but nice sea view from the balcony (probably not the case for all rooms, we stayed in room Poseidon). Very close to center, but a small uphill walk (~100 steps) is needed to reach the hotel. Pythagoreio town of Samos was quite compact and has all we looked for: good food, good cocktails, quite environment, easy to reach and close to many nice beaches. Taxi from-to Vathy center is around 17-20€.
The hotel was beautiful and tastefully decorated with a minimalist, clean design that made it feel peaceful and stylish. The facilities, including the welcoming entrance area where we relaxed with wine and books, were excellent. Our room was spotless and well-equipped, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful—they even helped us order food when room service was closed and assisted with ferry arrangements. It was a perfect space to unwind after long days.
Authentic and cosy location in a strategic position, with a lovely beach in front of the hotel and very close to Pythagorion's centre and Samos'airport.
