The stay here was really great. I enjoyed the views from the balcony and room was really comfortable. Everything was really clean.
The best part is if you get to breakfast early enough, you can pick spot with sea-view on the terrace. There were nice choices of food for breakfast, but dinner didn't have the largest selection. I also liked that in the case of half-board you can transfer credits if you miss dinner.

Makarska has some of the old Croatian charm like Hvar, or Dubrovnik, Split. Can be a little crowded at times. Nice water front area leading to old town lanes. Nice beaches. Easy ferry access to Brac. Short drive from Split. Parking is difficult & can be costly. Restaurants & especially sea food can be expensive, so you need to hunt around.

It's a nice place, but the Romana resort is on the very edge of it and we ended up going to the city centre by car every day because there wasn't really many activities or good restaurants in the resort area.
Also Croatia in general got pretty expensive, sometimes bizarre, e.g. you buy a coffee in a beach bar (Buba Beach Bar) and get it without water, when you ask for water you get a 0,5l plastic bottle of Jana water that they charge 4,20 euro.

dislikes:
1) we only met a few people in the service industry that were actually nice and plesent to deal with most din't seam to grasp that there economy is based on tourism and being nice and respectul to people - well its a thing !
2) Parking in Croatia is a joke, complete ripoff.
3) Smoking is everywhere, was at a filing station and the long queue to the toilet went trough the cafe where loads of people smoked. everywhere, really annoying in restaurants - no seperation for non smokers. - pity because the country was lovely to visit. - would't go back because of the rudness of staff and smoking culture from the last centruy. did met a few really nice people but literally it was our host and one guy in a small town way out there.

We were on holiday in Makarska from 08.19 to 08.25. The beaches were overcrowded every day.
A lot of time was spent looking for a parking space, even in shopping centre car parks waiting for a free space.
The boat excursion programme in the port of Makarska was a disappointment, as the boat trip was too long and the free time we had was very short. I would not recommend this boat trip for families with small children.
The restaurants next to the beaches in the centre served good quality food and drinks served nicely.
The old town was very nice.
The overcrowding in Makarska is getting to the same level as Dubrovnik. I wouldn't be surprised if they limit the number of tourists in town.
I will probably never choose this city as a destination again.

Beautiful city with beautiful beaches. We loved being here.
Beautiful city with beautiful beaches. We loved being here. Not outwardly queer-friendly but we still felt safe and some places really had an outstanding atmosphere - for example Castellum Restaurant, where we even went twice. Makarska is quite small, so you can reach everything by foot, but some walking distances might be difficult for disabled individuals (uphill walks, narrow streets, steps).
Our favorite activity was the sunset boat tour provided by mymarinertours! As well as going to the beaches at sv. petar!

Just returned from a fabulous 11 days at Villa Minkini (3 adults, 4 kids). Ante was a great host and we couldn’t have asked for more… Helped us sort transfers from Split airport, was there to greet us on check in, took us to the supermarket, gave us lots of information about the area, assisted immediately with any issues (there weren’t many) and cooked us an amazing meal on our last night.
The Villa itself is awesome! The kids (and adults) loved the pool, the pool table was fun when we wanted a break from the sun and there is everything you need for a comfortable stay (kitchen facilities, BBQ, towels and beach towels, loungers and parasols, tv, comfy beds, air con, parking, etc).
The local vista is stunning! Mountains behind and a gorgeous sea views in front of you. It’s a little way from the town centre but that wasn’t a huge issue for us.
There’s a mini market and a bigger supper market within 10 min walk and larger supermarkets (eg. LIDL) about 20 mins by car.
It’s VERY hilly so probably not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.
We tended to walk (downhill) to the beach / restaurants. That took about 20 mins but was rather warm. Then got a taxi back which cost €15-20 for the 7 of us (use Ivo for taxis - Ante will help you arrange).
Makarska is beautiful! We enjoyed a boat trip to a secluded beach and caves, a sunset cruise and a session of parasailing. Lots of child oriented activities at the beach too (inflatables, etc).
There’s plenty of bars and restaurants. Prices are pretty comparable to UK. Would definitely recommend exploring the back streets away from the sea front to find some of the hidden gems. Konoba Novak was a family favourite and only about 15 mins walk from the villa. Gastro Diva in the old part of the town also served fabulous food. Lots of nice little shops around this area too.
Really can’t recommend Villa Makarska highly enough. Easily one of the best self-catering facilities we have stayed in. Thank you Ante!

Hosts were very nice. This was the best place we have stayed in Croatia. Apartments are modern, very clean and fully equipped. It has free parking. There was a big terrace with sea view and furniture where we stayed most of the time. We felt like home, it was very calm and quiet place. Perfect for relaxing and vacation time. Totally recommend it.
We have been for the first time in Croatia/Makarska.
The owners were very friendly, helping every time you need, taking time for the guests.
Would recommend 100%, we want to go back again!! Close distance to the beach, local market with fresh vegetables and lovely fruits!
Our boys loved it!!!
We enjoyed the apartment, the terrace and the sea view, which was a bliss. Ivanka picked us up directly from the bus station, and helped us throughout our entire stay in Makarska, and even further for the rest of our trip in Croatia. Overall, a great experience.
Our stay at the hotel was absolutely amazing. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff that are working at the reception, bars, pools are all very kind & helpful. Thank you Aminess for making our stay in Makarska pleasant.
Zvonko is very good host with a lot of good recommendations in Makarska but in the rest of the Croatia too. Apartmen was so nice and clean! Communication was easy, we had a private safe parking spot infront of the apartment.
