Very friendly and diligent staff. They are kind and open to help in any matter you need in your trip to Magelang (fast laundry, locations, food)..in English! The place is good located, near the Alun-alun and city center. The best part: a nice pool and place for chillin.

    Magelang makes a good base to explore other parts of Yogja.

    Magelang makes a good base to explore other parts of Yogja. I chose to stay here instead of busy Yogja, and made a day trip to Yogja (where most would do it the other way around). This option suits those who'd prefer to soak in village vibes! Tip: for a local experience, take the local Damri bus from Borobudur bus terminal (a short walk from Maher House). The bus takes you directly from Magelang/ Borobudur to Yogja Malibioro Street in 1.5hr for only $2. Ride was comfy and clean!

    Fantastic ! ...Pitty that were only two nights. The boys there ( the hosts) were fantastic, also give us the option for an indonesian dinner. It was tasty and interesting. Also very tasty the breakfast -some indonesian sweets absolutely amazing. About the location - it was near Borobudur, so we take a walk and enter the gate near the souvenir shops. The room was practically a house with a huge bedroom and huge bathroom. They have also pool , a dinning area , a relaxing place, bicycles for rent and rice field ....at the gate.

    Wonderful staff and a great spot to stay for a night if you are visiting Borobudur. The staff organized a driver to take us at 4:30 AM to Punthuk Setumbu to watch the sunrise (lower your expectations – it’s not that impressive). We also used that time to visit the ‘Chicken Church’ (which is actually a pigeon), and afterward, we had an Indonesian breakfast. From there, we walked for about 10 minutes to reach Borobudur’s gate, where we bought the 8:30 AM climbing ticket, which I strongly recommend due to the heat.

    Very nice restaurant and rooftop with beautiful view of mt merapi and merbabu. Nice food, and you can rent electric scooter and bike to explore Ketep Pass and the surrounding activities, with majestic view of all mountains surrounding. Magelang is 45 minutes away, so it is accessible.
