Setting the Standard
Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.

The beach site is really nice and perfect for early morning walks and see the sun rise. Nice long beach and plenty of facilities in Sanur. Icon shopping Centre is a great hub and has a wide variety of shops and eateries. The good thing about Sanur is that it is a bit easier paced than Kuta and other West coast resorts. Lots of eateries and Spa facilities. The bad, and this includes most of Bali, is that it is filthy and with no sign that this issue is being addressed. If you like clean, don't come to Bali. Roads are awful, badly maintained and very full. Sanur is a lovely area for families, singles and retirees...
Sanur is a lovely area for families, singles and retirees alike. There are some great cafes, restaurants and bars along Jalan Danau Tamblingan (the main road through Sanur). The road is long so if walking is not your thing you can always pick up a Bluebird taxi (on meter). It's also easy walking distance to Karang Beach from the main road, where you'll find more bars and eating places along the beach. You can also hire bicycles at Karang Beach to ride along the footpath. There's the new ICON Shopping Mall (a must visit if you've never been there). For eating, I recommend Mona Lisa, Ribs, Wicked Parrot, Republique, The Pantry, Akaya Cafe, The Village, Smorgas.Guest review byKarenAustralia
