Loved the drumlin roads, like being on a gentle rollercoaster. Very friendly people. The Cavan County Museum was fascinating, moving, imaginative, comprehensive. One of the best I've seen. Loved visiting the home county of my ancestors. Hoped to find family connections, but I will need to come back to research more. The tourist info office was very helpful as was Harold Johnston in Black Lion😊. Although we didn’t explore the hiking and lakes, that will be on my next journey. The Cavan County Museum was very interesting place to visit, beautiful gardens well planned out and Fantastic exhibits, ie The Battle of the Somme, trenches , Replica of the GPO and the exhibits. The whole history of the country, and its significance in the landscape of Cavan and its people. I would highly recommend it. Property was handy about 15 mins away and much better value for money in comparison to places in Cavan town. Great facilities, made use of the fridge, dining area etc and pull out sofa bed. Clean and tidy and perfect for what we needed. Situated in a beautiful part of the countryside beside a castle.
