What we liked most about the hotel was the minute you arrived until the time we left all the staff were so welcoming from the staff who checked you in the servers in the restaurant and the staff who cleaned the rooms everyone was so helpful and the room we stayed in was lovely and the breakfast and dinner was fantastic I would highly recommend the river island hotel and I will be definitely staying there again
Castleisland is a great place to stay whether just passing through or touring Co Kerry. It is very close to Killarney, Tralee etc but much better value for money with regard to accommodation. There is a good atmosphere in the local bars and restaurant, without the crowds of the larger towns.
Great value for money, not as touristy as Killarney nor as busy as Tralee. Beautiful farmland and interesting history if interested. Truly a market town with great shops, free parking, traditional Irish restaurants. People are friendly and not trying to trap tourists. This is a real example of an agricultural, sporting and in some quarters, music loving town.
Castleisland is a lovely spot. People very friendly. The Central Bar on main street was fab. Bar staff very welcoming, also The Crown bar was equally welcoming. Nice shops in Castleisland to browse around. you are near to Killarney and Tralee for a day out
The town has great food options during the day with several coffee shops/ restaurants, but most close at 6 pm. The only options I found after this was a Chinese restaurant or the River Island Hotel. Other than that it’s takeaway. Castleisland is a great central base for seeing Co Kerry.
Just stayed here as a stopgap to Killarney and other parts of Kerry. Lots of free parking. Stayed in the River Island Hotel which was very comfortable and good value for money. Chef Gerard’s café was lovely for a coffee and pastry every morning. We also availed of a two for one cocktail offer in the Shoemaker Bar. There is about 4 or 5 thrift stores in the town so I enjoyed shopping in them. We also had a stroll along the river walk on the evening we arrived.
Very welcoming, room was clean bed was comfy and huge. Hosts were very friendly, breakfast as requested and when they realized I was there to hike in the local mountains brought a hiking magazine to my room ;) which I thought was a lovely considerate thought. Very close to Castleisland and all amenities for dinner, food etc and close for Hiking which was the purpose of my stay. Loved it and the accommodation exceeded my expectations. Thank you.
Lovely cottage, very spacious and everything you need is there. Fuel for the open fire, all kitchen utensils etc. Host Mary very easy to deal with and had no problem with check in and out. Nice and relaxing. Castleisland highly recommended, friendliest people in Ireland there!
Loved the location very central and Shiela was very welcoming lots of things to see and do around castleisland and surrounding areas
Lovely country hotel, great food and lovely snug bar. Really enjoyed our stay many thanks to all the lovely staff. Ned
