Its a afantastic city if you have the time to just walk around and absorb the ambience. The people are very friendly once you get to know them.
You should definitely visit Miski bar next to Panjim Post office and try their Beef / Chicken cafreal sandwich as well as the prawn cafreal and do not leave the city without trying goa's local beer People's.
Also book a walking tour with Soul Travels and ask for Kunal or Bob. You will not be disappointed.

Loved the location in the Portuguese area, we spent three full days exploring the immediate area and nearby - all on foot - except a trip to Old Goa by local bus. We had simple lunches, usually samosas (the best we have ever tasted) and chai with dinner at local Fontainhas restaurants including our hotel.

As a woman, I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe with the men they allow inside the hotel - just sitting around men sitting around lobby staring. Even at dinner at the hotel, we had the same experience - with extremely cheap men sitting around and just staring at women like we were there for their entertainment.
The hotel also lies about cab services for guests, insisting that you only use cab services run by thugs - stationed outside the premises. They charge extremely high rates and are complete bullies. All you need to do is walk up the street to the high way and you can take far more reasonable cabs/ taxis - but the hotel doesnt even infrom you about this. Shows how much they value their customers and a basic level of customer service. Pathetic customer service by double tree by Hilton Panaji. Do not waste your time at this hotel.
- central location (easy walk distance to centre of Panjim, Fontainhas and bus station)
- neighborhood (quiet, safe, pictorial neighbourhood, full of history)
- incredible host (Mr. Deric is the most loving and caring person, always helpful and friendly. Great company during your breakfast, especially if you're traveling alone!)
- lovely tasty breakfast
- cleanliness
- all the help and orientation provided by the host makes your stay in Goa super joyful and dynamic. Way beyond the casual tips offered by touristic guides.
Beautiful Portuguese property, right in the heart of Fontainhas. Lovely room with balcony overlooking a lovely street.
The property's owners were amazingly helpful, and helped us plan out our short time in Panaji -giving us an excellent restaurant recommendation - Bombil - which was one of our favourite restaurants we visited in India.
Lovely breakfast as well was included, and our forever helpful host organised our onward travel for us as well, taking in some time to stop in Old Goa as we went on to South Goa
The hotel is beautiful. Its location is 10/10. Staff is really helpful and the food is delicious. Food is very reasonable. Also the view from my room was awesome. It rained throughout the trip, but I hardly felt like going out because of the view. Peaceful and pretty vibe. The staff helped me get transport and the food was served really fast. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The river was swelling with water and the decor really kept up with the Goan theme.
This property is located at the heart of a heritage site in Goa. The owner and the staff have amazing hospitality skills. It feels like home, for sure!!
