Little Peepal House was an EXCELLENT experience!! The location could not be better and the staff, and especially owner Parvat (who goes by Papu), were exceptional -- absolutely the best we have encountered during our time in India. I chose the least expensive room, which was a little worn around the edges, BUT there was AC, towels and toilet paper and I wasn't there to sit in my room! We signed up to do the Udaipur neighborhood walking tour with Papu, which is an amazing cultural experience and a breath of fresh air after visiting the more touristed areas. It was everything -- an education in the culture and history of the area and included sights, smells, and TASTES of the old city. It was money well spent and exactly the reason I love to travel--getting exposed to a new place and sharing that with a multigenerational local. The tour could not have been better. AND, on top of all of these amazing aspects of staying at Little Peepal, Papu was so fantastically generous with his time, advice, help, and insights--and that was absolutely priceless. Would you believe that after my son and I left, the next night Papu texted and called me at almost 23:00 to be sure I was safe because the hotel that Papu had helped me book had called to tell him we had not yet arrived (our transportation from Udaipur was delayed by many hours)?! Who, besides my mother would do that?!! A hotel is a hotel but this level of caring, attention, pride in their work, and dedication -- you're not going to find half of this anywhere else in Udaipur!! Hooray for Little Peepal House!

Great service, great location. We loved the complentary high tea and cocktails with the view of Lake Pichola. We often stayed for dinner afterwards, the food was very good. They have a lot of delicious Indian breakfast classics on the menu as well as continental staples, we tried our way through most of them. If you ask they also have some items not on the a la Carte Menu such as fresh fruits. While I Iove a breakfast buffet I did not miss it at all, as the food was super fresh and came quickly. The hotel only has eight rooms so it also makes more sense for them. The location is right next to City Palace and many great shops, restaurants etc. are within short walking distance. The hotel is on the end of a quiet side street, so we had no traffic noise to contend with. We also felt very safe walking to and from the hotel, being greeted by some friendly families in the neighborhood. The rooms were very clean, we saw two due to an upgrade which was wonderful. We enjoyed the design and good lighting, you can create a comfortable atmosphere. Both rooms had a nice view towards the lake and a tree full of wildlife.

Absolutely exceptional stay. Sorry we didn’t stay longer and look forward to our next visit. The staff was amazing, the palace property was gorgeous and the food was delicious. Beautiful haveli, well restored and well maintained. The staff were nice and helpful — they picked us up at the taxi drop-off point and arranged a tuk-tuk for our check-out day at a reasonable price. The room was beautiful and clean. The location is convenient, right in the heart of the city, with a rooftop offering a nice view, even though it’s not on the lakeside. The Indian food was good as well.

This was hands down one of the most beautiful places we ever stayed in India. It's clearly ran with a lot of love and attention and that's reflected in the wonderful staff, spotless premises and a very relaxing energy. Having a live sitar playing over breakfast was something we never expected and it added to the overall feel of staying in an oasis. We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for home away from home and are looking forward to coming back.
