This place was absolutely spectacular and we were so disappointed that we only stayed for one night. The views were breathtaking and close to everything offered in the area. We based our family of 5 in Vik to explore the southern coast over 3 nights with our rental car. We found it easier to have one base rather than a different hotel each night. We visited the Skogafoss Waterfall, Black Sand Beach, YODA caves, gorge hike, Glacier walk at Skaftafell and then onto the Glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach. We didn’t eat out as it was expensive for what appeared average food so we went to the local supermarket and cooked back at our self catered apartment. Vik offers lots of adventure based companies who organise tour and expeditions.

Nice small town,so windy, big waves at black sand beach, It is a nice experience. We came from Golden Circle first day, second day we went to Jokusarlon gracier lagoon and back. third day we were back to reykjavir. If just doing ring road, one night should be enough. accommodation is expersive in Vik.

Enjoyed the Black Sand Beach and the amazing rock formations not far from Vik. There was also a good cafe there. Dyhroley lighthouse was good for the views of the coast could walk as long of as short as you liked. Went for a wonderful meal at Surdur-Vik restaurant, which I booked in the morning as it is popular.

Vik is a cool spot to relax in.

Vik is a cool spot to relax in. The town itself is small with a few options for restaurants and things to do. Many nature sights are close to/accesible from Vik. This would make a nice home base to checking out the waterfalls to the west, and the glacier to the north.
