We were fortunate enough to have one of the suites at the front which had a jacuzzi and sauna - it was exceptional. Bed was extremely comfortable and linens and towels superb. Location is fantastic and extremely close to the lake with only a 10 minute walk up to the old town which is well worth a visit. Onsite parking is also available. A lovely boutique hotel.

Although I liked everything, the best part of my stay was the staff, specially during the breakfast service. They greeted me, explained how everything worked, prepared a table for me and checked on me if everything was to my liking. Small details that count for me a lot.

Very lovely town, full of history and very well kept.

Very lovely town, full of history and very well kept. The lake is incredibly beautiful, with crystal clear waters and good infrastructure to spend some relaxing time by the beach. Restaurants are many and delicious and it’s great to be able to eat many specialties of fish. The island Bisentina, accessible by boat (only through reservation), has an exotic charme, and is mysterious and gorgeous.

What an unexplored beauty and luckily a very unknown area, for the pure fact that not many people go, makes it such an amazing place. Great food, great weather and an amazing place of peace and relaxation

Bolsena is a great location for access to Civita di Bagnoregio. A wander along the lake beach and around the town and caste after arriving mid/late aternoon allows time for an evening meal. A leisurely start then enables a short drive (30mins) to Bagnoregio and walk to Civita and around the hilltop town and stop for lunch. A return to Bolsena mid/late afternoon and a swim in the pool or lake before an evening meal and another overnight stay. Two nights is the perfect length of time for exploring this part of Italy on a driving holiday.

Bolsena is a charming town with a variety of attractions.

Bolsena is a charming town with a variety of attractions. The lake is beautiful with good restaurants along the shoreline. The old mediaeval town is picturesque and well worth the steps and the climb to reach the castle at the top, which is now a museum. We also went to the archaeological site of Volsinii, only a few minutes walk from the museum, which was fascinating and seems to have very little publicity in the guide books or in town.

Bolsena is absolutely closed in January.

Bolsena is absolutely closed in January. All of the Restaurants and all of the shops are closed. Someone told me one restaurant was open some days but I didn't go. Every other month this town is beautiful, full of hidden gems and alleys in the old cobblestoned streets to explore, totally safe, full of vibrant shops and excellent restaurants. The big churches and old mansions turned exhibition spaces are super interesting, and the lakeside area is wonderful too, making it a place full of variety where one can spend a week split between relaxing and shopping and enjoy every day you are there. They have the most extraordinary Ayurvedic Masseuse there, Elena, who uses authentic oils and spices in her treatments and offers Shirodhara also. A wonderful bonus! Find her in the little alley near the Bio Lavandaria opposite the Post Office.

Lake Bolsena is a beautiful place with many accommodation...

Lake Bolsena is a beautiful place with many accommodation options available. The water temperature in Sep was like a warm bath. There are many local cafes and restaurants to choose from, but not all were open throughout our stay. During the siesta period you will find only limited eateries and the supermarket is open for business. We recommend the Antica Trattoria del Corso Pizzeria for the Calamari and Prawns and the prova le Nostre Specialta Pizzaria da Flavio pizzas. You can drive around lake Bolsena to visit the other towns like Montefiascone and the Rocco dei Papi Museum of architecture.

Big, spacious and beautiful villa by the Bolsena Lake. Fully equipped kitchen with direct access to the back garden. Right across the street is a nice restaurant where we had a couple of dinners. Wonderful roof top terrace with view over the lake and the old town. One minute from the beach with bars and restaurants.

Bolsena is my favourite town along the 20 days trip in Italy. This hotel is a museum itself, no parking on site but free parking lots very nearby. It is surrounding with restaurants, shops and local living area, not only full of history and culture but also essential elements for tourists.
