We had a wonderful stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Our room was super clean, comfortable, and well-maintained throughout our trip. The location couldn't be better—it's just a short walk to the beach and has super convenient access to public transportation, making it easy to explore the area. We’ll definitely be back!

What an amazing hotel, steeped in history. The staff are excellent and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. Our room looked out over the front of the property, was large and very comfortable with lovely furniture. It has a great location, just a few minutes walk from the Lido water bus terminal, and a few minutes from the beach on the other side. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our only complaint is that we were told that there were no more pancakes available, and this was at 9:30am, an hour and a half before the breakfast service officially ended.

Absolutely gorgeous and authentic hotel in the middle of Lido, close to the beach and restaurants, outside the tourist paths. Incredibly friendly staff in the restaurant and front desk were happy to talk to all the guests and share interesting information about the hotel's history and Venice. Lovely breakfast!

FAQs about hotels in Venice-Lido

Chic Venetian Beach Resort

Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.

Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.

There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.

Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

What guests said about Venice-Lido:

Lovely beaches on the Lido.

Lovely beaches on the Lido. But access to some sections are private and/or expensive but Blue Moon (or the nearby free beach) and Alberoni represent better value with nice restaurants. Alberoni in particular is worth the bus ride to the very southern point of the Lido. Water buses are great, frequent and fun way to get around and good value with a weekly pass. Venice is stunning but explore some of the lesser known areas. (Also try Murano.) Get off the beaten track in Venice and you can get a fantastic pasta for the price that you pay for a coffee at San Marco square!

If you want to discover Venice for more than a few days, Venice-Lido is a super relaxed spot. The atmosphere is totally different to the old town (which is in close reach) and offers sandy beaches, nice restaurants and a good public transport connection.

If you want to combine a classic beach holiday with exploring Venice, I highly recommend staying on Venice-Lido. It was so incredibly nice to stay away from the intense crowds of central Venice and retreat to the slower, more relaxed pace of the Lido at the end of the day. Getting into the historic center is a breeze—it’s only about a 15-minute scenic boat ride (vaporetto) right to the main plaza by the Doge's Palace square. The beach itself was surprisingly great! It features clean water, a wide sandy shore, lifeguards on duty, and excellent beach clubs. There are also beautiful, affordable beach restaurants right along the water that are absolutely perfect for grabbing a refreshing beer or a relaxed afternoon aperitivo. If you prefer a quiet, peaceful stay with a wonderful beach vibe, this is the perfect spot.

The lido is synonymous with "Hotel de Bains", from the movie "Death in Venice" by Visconti. You may enjoy the hotel from outside, due to interior renovation BUT put on your headphones and listen to "Adagietto" from Gustav Mahler's 5t also from the movie...

An excellent place for visiting Venice, but also perfect for a relaxing holiday on its own. The beach is wonderful, and in spring everything is green and in bloom — enchantingly romantic. There is no rush there, only peace and tranquillity.

Elegant and comfortable apartment right next to Hotel Excelsior with access to its beautiful sandy private beach, which is ideal for children. The apartment had everything you need for self-catering for a family of four, and the little private terrace in front with sun awning was great for relaxing. The host was very friendly and explained everything well. We will definitely come back soon.

Great room with air con that worked wonderfully! Clean and spacious bathroom. Great cleaning every day, came back from trips to a clean room with beds made up. Gorgeous garden, close to the beach, which is private, and did not belong to the hotel. Could have rented sunbeds there, but they were totally overpriced! A 15 minutes walk to the community beach, which was not overcrowded and nice.
