This hotel is a dream. The lake side view is straigt from a Bond movie. Allthough the restaurant menu is perhaps not the cheapest one, the high quality food is prepared with fresh local ingredients. It matches the overall ambiance. The hotel is run by a super friendly and competent staff. Makes you feel like royalty. Also nice that you can park your car in front of the entrance! I highly recommend staying here.

Valmadrera is a lovely little town nearby.

Valmadrera is a lovely little town nearby. It is essential to drive there from the hotel, but parking was quite limited. We often drove through and went to Lecco which had shops and a variety of restaurants. We would definitely recommend 'Specialized', the cycling shop in Lecco for hiring bikes. It was fantastic with helpful staff.

Valmadrera was perfect for our 4 night stay.

Valmadrera was perfect for our 4 night stay. Short transfer from airport, quieter place than some other busy towns which was great for us. A few central bars and restaurants, ice cream shop and a supermarket 10 mins walking from centre. Easy access to the ferry for our day trips and the local bus was great to get to Lecco centre in about 15 minutes. Loved this place and the views! Just spectacular

The town seems lovely and is generally quiet.

The town seems lovely and is generally quiet. We witnessed a vandalism/aggravated assault incident at the Lecco train station at night, which wasn't great as it was the only stop we could travel from to get to Valmadrera. Got out of there and it was lovely for the rest of the trip. Sunny weather, looming mountains on all sides. If you're looking to stay in a quieter area with an amazing mountain view from every direction, Valmadrera's the place to be. For activities, we mostly travelled regionally to hike or visit coastal towns. But during our research, there were some lovely walks that were suggested to us and it seems like there is regular public transport to good viewpoints in Valmadrera and Lecco too.

Valmadrera is located on the east side of Lake Como.

Valmadrera is located on the east side of Lake Como. This means that it has sun in the morning and doesn't feature long sunny and warm evenings. If you are into the latter, better stay in Lecco because it is on the sunny west side of the lake. The view from Barè over to the mountains and to Lecco however is grand and reminds of 18th century romantic paintings. There is a vast amount of hiking paths right in the backyard of Valmadrerera. Since we were there for just one night, we treated ourselves to the hike no. 6 to the little chapel that is half way up the mountain and features breathtaking , similar two the ones in Barè but just from higher up. It's a splendid 80 minutes workout in easy but nevertheless spectacular terrain. We were there in mid February and experienced the first signs of spring. The place is most likely to be splendid all year round, due to the spectacular landscape, the beautiful architecture and the abundance of seemingly pristine nature. It's an ideal place to go for a romantic couple's holiday, or for a hiking holiday. Of course it's ideal to combine these two options :-)

First of all I had chosen the wrong train station which was...

First of all I had chosen the wrong train station which was Como San Giovanni (from Milano Centrale) In fact if I had chosen Lecco station everything would be easier for me. I stayed for one night. Next time I plan to stay much longer, 5-7 days. Please please arrange your car in advance before arriving. It is difficult to find a car and even if you do it costs you a fortune for vain. That is why I prefered public transportation and instead of going alone Valmadrera is a place to enjoy with friends and beloved ones. It was like hidden paradise.

The hotel is extremely charming, and its location right on the road is absolutely astonishing. The balconies of the rooms are beautiful. They offer breathtaking views and leave a lasting impression. It's a true gem overlooking the lake. The staff, who are part of a family-run team, are very welcoming, guest-friendly, and full of positive energy. When I asked for a restaurant, they recommended other places instead of their own. This reflects a thoughtful and open attitude.

Good location for visiting Lake Como attractions. Good connections by bus to Lecco & Como. Bellagio area from Lecco too. The flat in the house is really nice and comfortable with great domestic facilities: everything you need to enjoy your stay in a independent family home. Sabrina, our host, is great, very friendly and always willing to help. Great advice on where to go and how to get there.

Located right on the lake with breathtaking taking views. We had views on to the mountains but woke to mountain goats eating outside our room in the morning. The owners are extremely accomdating and advised us on where to go on our day trips. Free parking in front of hotel and breakfast was great. Will be back again
