- I was upgraded upon my arrival, so this was just a cherry on top - Apartment was wonderful, clean and equipped with all the necessary amenities (you don't have to bring anything except your clothes) - People at the reception are wonderful and helpful (dog is the best 😀) - I've slept like never before and the view was heaven. - Breakfast was amazing, a lot of options , something for everyone - Restaurant in the hotel has great food so you don't have to go far for lunch or dinner

A Haven of Alpine Tranquillity

Surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Alps, Lake Como is a long, thin lake in the shape of an inverse ‘Y’. At its south-west corner is the beautiful town that it’s named after – Como. A short train ride from Milan, this is the starting point for several Lake Como cruises. If you take the funicular railway up to Brunate you get magnificent views of the lake and mountains, towards Switzerland just to the west.

The laidback and sophisticated way of life makes Como Lake popular with celebrities and several have homes in exclusive Bellagio, which is almost entirely surrounded by water. The views here are breathtaking, so it’s easy to see why of all the Lake Como hotels, Bellagio has the greatest concentration.

Just across the water are Lenno, Tremezzo and Menaggio, home to many exclusive lakefront hotels, many with swimming pools. You can actually swim in some parts of the lake, and the best beaches are found in the area near Gravedona in the north. Fanning out around a small harbour, this town offers some of the best Lake Como watersports.

In fact, what made my stay enjoyable and I was very pleased and happy was the attention and hospitality of Mr. Mattia. He was very interested to the point that he felt that I did not ask him to change the room and he waited for me until I returned at night and changed the room for me and upgraded me to a room without any additional fees, a junior room, and its code was stunning overlooking the street and the city of Como and Lake Como. The room is very beautiful to the point that you can sit in it and it is enough to go out for a walk. Mr. Mattia was also important and explained the tourist places in the city of Como. He also came to me at early breakfast time. He is a very interested person in his work and hardworking. The same personality as Mr. Mattia has a bright future of distinction, development and attracting tourists. This is a rare type of official and you will rarely find him with his efficiency and he is a distinguished supervisor of a workplace and his quality is very upscale. Also, before leaving for vacation, he gave me his private number card in case I faced any problem in the hotel and vice versa, everything was fine. Also, when I left the hotel, I was explained the tourist places in Milan. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Mattia, and I advise everyone. Deal with him because he is a person who is characterized by his high-class dealings and knowledge of what the clients need. I also advise booking room number 350. It is very, very beautiful and overlooks the public street, the city of Como, and the crystal lake of Como. Thank you very much, Mr. Mattia. Thank you.

Grand Hotel villa Serbelloni is an amazing palatial hotel located right in the centre of Bellagio where you can embrace the beauty of this hamlet! Just step out of the grounds and you have restaurants, artisanal shops and a strip for shopping. It is a villa of a bygone era with old charm and exquisite interior. Room with a balcony was spacious and had a magnificent view of the lake. It is truly top notch accommodation but well worth the fairytale experience! Service was impeccable and staff friendly and professional. Nothing was too much! Room service occurs twice a day and they are always accommodating. Staff could not be faulted and made your stay extra special. Buffet Breakfast in a ballroom is amazingly jaw dropping with its decore, abundance of food and quality professional service. It has an indoor and outdoor pool that are large and well appointed. The lounge area is quite regal and the atmosphere with a piano player playing gave it a touch of class! It did not lack facilities and included a spa space. Outside are glorious gardens and a bar restaurant to have an aperitive and snack in style overlooking the lake. Thank you to all at Villa Serbelloni for making our stay memorable and special!

Amazing Stay at Filario Hotel! We had a truly wonderful experience at Filario Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, helpful, making us feel right at home. Our room was spotless, very comfortable, and beautifully decorated — a perfect blend of style and relaxation. The view from our balcony was absolutely breathtaking and made every morning feel special. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of the honey pot with the tea setup; it added a cozy, personal feel. While there wasn’t an in-room coffee option, we honestly didn’t mind — who needs a capsule machine when you can enjoy a freshly made cappuccino in the lovely lounge area or at the hotel’s excellent restaurant? Also the breakfast buffet was really good. The only thing that could have made the experience absolutely perfect would be allowing the use of adapted modest swimwear in the pool. That small change would make the experience even more inclusive and enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic stay, and we can’t wait to return!

Amazing hotel and staff. Tasty and various options for breakfast. Views from the property are stunning. Highly recommend to have dinners at hotel. Food was extremely delicious. And the atmosphere sooo romantic. Interior is very cosy with modern vintage touches. Staff - very helpful and friendly. I wish I could stay longer. If you're looking for a place to explore further afield from, you've got great train and bus connections to other parts of northern Italy and Switzerland. Plus, if you're into football, the Como 1907 team are worth watching in a stadium that is probably the most scenic I've ever seen.

Great place to visit although very hilly.

Great place to visit although very hilly. Plenty of restaurants. Lots of ferry options for visiting other town around Lake Como. Suggest avoiding driving as driving to and from Bellagio is via very narrow roads.

Lecco is about beautiful and stylish Italian people walking around, tasty food, espresso, combination of culture, gorgeous mountains and a stunning Lake Como. Small shopping is also possible: you can find everything you need there.

Menaggio is gorgeous!!

Menaggio is gorgeous!! Probably one of the best towns along the lake. Very close to Villa Carlotta too, which is very handy! The ferry system is great! The piazza is wonderful. Really enjoyed the beauty and the people.

VARENNA is a stunning location on Lake Como and well worth a visit. Very busy on the weekends but quiets down once the day tourists leave. We also did a day trip by train to Tirano to take the Bernina Red train to St Moritz Switzerland. This was one of our favorite activities with the views of the alpine glaciers, lakes and country side. Just so many “wows”! We also loved catching the ferries over to Bellagio, Menaggio and the Taxi Boat trip to Villa del Balbianello.

Bellano is one of the smaller towns of Lake Como and has a nice marina and promenade alongside the wharf. It can't be compared with the bigger towns of Bellagio or Menaggio which are more beautiful and scenic. But Bellano is quite nice too with a neat town centre with both indoor and outdoor eating places. It is also less crowded as compared to some of the bigger towns which gives it a laid back ambience. Logistics are however not so great. Ferry frequency for going to other towns is low which means sometime you have to catch a ferry at an inconvenient time. Inside Bellano public transport is practically non existent and taxis are not available for love or money which is perhaps true for other towns of Lake Como as well. There don't seem to be many top class hotels in Bellano. We stayed at the Villa Reverie Boutique hotel which was situated right on the lake side and was about 1 km from the town centre. We liked the hotel and would recommend it strongly despite its high price point for a 3 star hotel.

I’d definetly book this place again, great views.

I’d definetly book this place again, great views. It was fairly easy to get to and from, bit of a long journey but didn’t mind. The staff were great and the other people staying were nice to very international and friendly oh and I loved seeing peoples dogs but I’m not sure if they were staying there? The room was clean, beds comfortable, WiFi not sure it worked, breakfast good and fair price.

I had last minute deal so it was worth the money. Otherwise, this place could be expensive to stay especially in the holiday season. Driving might be stressful since lane are narrow and regular commuters drive fast ! Finding good parking spot can be challenging during peak holiday season. Also, parking can be difficult for some people. Better to spend more on hotel where you can park for free and then walk around the area and take bus and ferry to visit different spots. Try to come as early as possible, since once tourists bus start coming in the area, places can be full of tourists.

It is a nice quaint town.

It is a nice quaint town. Perfect for a weekend getaway with its nice parks and long walks along the river front. We were pleasantly surprised to see the farmers market on the Friday we were there with all the food choices and merchandise

It's a cute town with some lovely restaurants and easy...

It's a cute town with some lovely restaurants and easy enough to walk around for someone of average fitness. However if your purpose is to explore most of Lake Como, you will be limited to the slow ferry up to Bellagio / Varenna / Menaggio which takes 2-3hours. We had originally booked to stay in Varenna but cancelled due to works on the train line to get there. It still would have been a better option, or just staying in Como town to access the fast ferry. Most of the private boat tours also pick up from Como or from the "Golden Triangle" of the lake.
