I wanted to wait until I was home from my vacation to fully give my attention to the review of Varenna Sweet Home. Of all the places we stayed in this was our favourite. Atila picked us up from the train station and walked us the short distance back to the suite. Atila paid attention to all the details to make our trip special. There was a binder of information for us to utilize, wash machine and dishwasher pods for us to use as well the kitchen and bathroom were very well equipt. The pullout couch in the living room was just as comfortable to sleep on as the queen-size bed in the bedroom. We were so comfortable!! What we loved the most was the large patio area. We had a table to sit and eat at, lounge chairs, and room to hang out our laundry on the line. It was such a lovely sanctuary and we are so very grateful we stayed at this suite. Thank you, Atila! PS: thank you for the proscecco, too!

As soon as we arrived, one of our hosts was there to meet us and give us a full walk through of the accommodation. They had even done the nice touch of providing us with some welcome drinks in the fridge and proper Italian biscuits.

Nicole's place in Fiumelatte, Lake Como was perfect for a solo trip (it would also be great for couples). It's right next to the lake and there's even a secret beach about 3 mins from the villa you can swim in. I was there all afternoon and it was empty the whole time. It's a short walk (maybe 20 mins) from the main town of Varenna and it's a lovely walk along the lake. You pass Villa Monastero which is well worth a visit. There are a couple of nice restaurants nearby serving fish fresh from the lake. The villa is just over a waterfall and the location is very peaceful - a nice break from busy Varenna. Nicole had left some drinks in the fridge for arrival and a great selection of brioche's and little toasts with coffee pods and tea bags. The actually building was very charming in a converted mill and kept very clean with everything needed for a short stay. Nicole was very attentive and answered all the questions I had about the area. I would definitely recommend this place for solo travellers and couples who want to stay somewhere less touristy and quieter than the central town, but still within easy reach of the lake and local sights of Varenna.
