I stopped here for a one night stay on my way to exploring Hiroshima and Miyajima. It's a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and spacious rooms. It's quite a ways from Hiroshima Station so don't make the same mistake I did and try and walk there. Save your feet and some time and grab a taxi. Located in a very quiet area. The hotel was already decorated for the holidays with a nice model train setup in the lobby. I had a good view from my room of the city below. Would stay here again if I'm in town.

Stayed in the Mirage Suite - wow! Huge room, comfortable bed, loved the hot tub and spa. Free movies available on the TV. Also a free drink in the guest lounge is a great bonus. Staff were very friendly and helpful despite the language barriers, but nothing translate devices couldn't fix.

We loved this hotel! The location is very quiet and there are konbinis nearby. The hotel is very calm and Nana and her colleague were very lovely. We enjoyed the breakfast and free sake tasting very much, and we really appreciated the efforts of the hotel to support local businesses and showcase products of Hiroshima as well as provide recommendations for special local cafes and restaurants. The room was beautiful and spacious and we even had a balcony. I loved the tatami mats and the sitting area we had in our room. The beds were also super comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Hiroshima!

There is so much more to Hiroshima than the A-bomb - but of...

There is so much more to Hiroshima than the A-bomb - but of course that requires sufficient time to see and imbibe all the tributes, and meditate on humanity. The city feels very European with its wide boulevards and massive oak trees that have grown back since the A-bomb; it's a large city and has all the shops and glamour of Tokyo without the neon. It's a very sedate city and that pace makes you also feel un-rushed. Miyajima as a day trip is easy and definitely worth it, and although oysters predominate there, Okonomiyaki has to be had at one of the iconic restaurants in Hiroshima.

We liked the city of Hiroshima.

We liked the city of Hiroshima. It was lively, with great restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed the Peace Memorial Park and sites there. We did not enjoy the museum. It was so overcrowded as to be dangerous. I believe that they need to move to a timed entry. If you go, go early.

My family is from Hiroshima, so I have a strong cultural...

My family is from Hiroshima, so I have a strong cultural connection, grandparents family home & ohaka. Food is wonderful as well! The Peace memorial is very emotional visit, my uncle & auntie's information at the museum was submitted by my cousin (her parents), so they are memorialized.

We only stayed for 2 nights but got to see most of what we wanted to visit, including the hidden temple of Mitaki dera. A magical place. There are several more places to see in Hiroshima in addition to the peace memorial.

Do your research before you arrive.

Do your research before you arrive. Going early to places like Miyajima Island to get ahead of all the tour buses. Check the tide times if you want to see the Torii in or out of the water. Be patient as there are queues at many of the tourist locations. Seek out quiet reflective parks with views near many of the rivers and mountains. Use the hop on hop off bus early in your stay to get a sense of the city's layout for access to sites of interests. Mix up your access to public transport - go one way on a train and if you can come back on a streetcar.

We visited the Peace Park, the Hiroshima castle, downtown...

We visited the Peace Park, the Hiroshima castle, downtown and the Peace Park on the hill overlooking the city. We found great food just down the street from the hotel. The front desk will give you a map of many restaurants close by. We had an excellent breakfast and coffee at Teranishis just around the corner behind the hotel. There is plenty of shopping downtown too. The map was lacking the addresses so we had to search a bit. We also spent a day on Miyajima. A great place to explore. Get there early as the crowds grow by afternoon.

So convenient to be able to get off a train and be essentially at your hotel. There are signs in Hiroshima station which direct you to the hotel, just make sure you go to the right one as there is Hotel Granvia and Hotel Granvia South Gate. The staff were so friendly and stored my luggage throughout the day for me before I could check in.

The hotel is very comfortable and the rooms are big, with all necessary equipment. Very great place (10min walk from train station) for visiting Hiroshima. The personal is very nice and breakfast (not served in room nor in restaurant) is western style and good quality (and very cheap). We strongly recommend this hotel.

The staff were lovely at this hotel. It was in a fabulous location really close to Hiroshima Station. Only a 5 minute walk away. The rooms are tiny. Barely fit 2 people. Hard to open suitcases but it was very clean and had an onsen which was lovely to soak in.
