I live in Sasebo, been here for years, and I love it! It's a perfect balance between the city and the countryside, with everything you need, and all the wonderful sights to see, especially Huis Ten Bosch, one of Japan's biggest theme parks. If you want a break from the big city and want to experience a smaller but very beautiful and diverse place, head to Sasebo.
Sasebo is a small town, I was made to feel welcome in the local restaurants and bars I went to. The city is in a beautiful location on the south-west coast of Kyushu and there is lots to do. I will go back.
We visited Sasebo with our son who was stationed at the US Navy base 10 years ago. We enjoyed walking around the perimeter of the base and some areas he frequented. Spent only a day and a half in the city.
It took too long to get from Nagasaki airport to the hotel. The hotel's location in the city is ideal with shops and restaurants all around. It is a buzzing, bustling city. Wish i had more time to explore the beautiful parks.
It's a nice city with good food and not expensive. Unfortunely, we arrived in Sasebo a bit late, so there was no time to visit the main attractions, but we did enjoyed our walk and dinner in the covered market. It's a long market. We found a western food restaurant that served very good food and not expensive.
We only came to see Huis Ten Bosch - which was a big disappointment. Of all the things you can do in beautiful Japan, this isin't one. Very out dated and run down "theme park", accomodation surrounding same was severely over priced and also very run down and out dated.
Maybe due to covid 19 they reduced the price so it was reasonable priced to stay in a hotel room which was large compared to normal Japan business hotels. It’s big enough for weddings as well. We had a twin room and it was comfortable. Parking was on site as well which was good. Reception were helpful with exchanging change as well. Washing facilities were good but need 100¥ coins. Shavers and toothbrush’s were provided.
Sasebo
Nice, relaxed and helpful owner (he’s gonna explain / help you a lot) and speaking good english. Good location (you can walk everywhere and it’s near the bus station) Good wifi Real kitchen (lots of hostels have only micowave and kettle in japan) Free breakfast (including eggs) Very clean Good value for money
Overall, not a bad place. It's about a 5 minute walk from the main shopping area. The hotel has everything you need if you just need a place to rest your hat for the night. The staff were quite friendly. There is also a small restaurant, though I didn't use it so I can't speak to how good it is.
Check-in experience was good, look forward to more of this in the future with other hotels. Though outside look like container, the interior, the equipment, etc are very good and modern . Have everything that you need.. Just like home. Only a few munutes drives to huisten Bosch park and to town.
Breakfast was good. Overall the food was good. The hotel was fairly modern. The staff however were very clinical and not very helpful to foreigners. They need to be more versed in English in order to help the different nationalities that frequent the area.
Nice mattress and pillows made sleep easy, 3 minute drive to sasebo naval station, short walk to park with big playground, lots of restaurants nearby, lots of parking lots nearby, 1000 yen daily discount provided by hotel for nearby Trust parking
Nice and child friendly hotel. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection that caters to a wide variety of customers. The private re-entry gate to the park is a bonus especially in the evening.
+ Awesome location with a very good view from the theme park! + Very kind staff. + Parking is very convenient and cheap. + Comfortable beds.
I liked the design of the hotel. The service members were nice. I would go to this hotel again.
Closer to Huis Ten Bosch harbour gate. You can re-enter by a bus from the hotel.
I loved the location, close to many restaurants and shopping.
It was near by station easy to access to the hotel
Excellent view and nice little areas to sit outside.
