I stayed at JR Clement hotel. My room was beautiful with an ocean view. There was a danse festival with public performances. I travelled on the train to and from Takamatsu; the service was excellent and staff was very attentive.
Takamatsu is a great medium sized city of maybe 400,000 people. Tamamo Park is lovely and Ritsurin garden is one of the great gardens of Japan - every bit the equal of the great gardens in Kanazawa and Okayama. Mount Yashima has spectacular views of the Inland Sea. There are ferries to most of the islands in the Seto Inland Sea so Takamatsu is the best place to stay if you want to do day trips to Naoshima, Shodoshima, etc. We also really enjoyed the oldest standing Kabuki theater in Japan about 1 hr out of town by train. There is a great JTO “Goodwill Guide” chapter organization that you can contact for free guides (Kagawa SGG) via the links from the JTO wbsite. Also, maybe the best udon in all of Japan!!!
Wow we had such a great trip! We went to the garden in the morning and had a tour. Then, we reused the ticket in the evening to see it with the lights (during autumn). The tea house and boat activities were fun in the garden. You should at least try the matcha tea. We went to a few islands as well. Naoshima island is great (the chichu art museum is amazing). Also, Shodoshima island was very fun. In terms of food, we ate a lot of udon. The best was at a place called 'Udon Honjin Yamadaya head shop.' It's located near the 85th temple in the shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage. It was relatively easy to access through transit (good if you collect Goshuin). Our days were packed and we had a lot of fun! I would also recommend doing a joyful train while on shikoku. That was a huge highlight and had a great atmosphere.
It's the countryside of Japan and less crowded than Okayama, where I live. If you love quiet places to visit, you'll love Takamatsu. They don't have much exciting food except udon and their grilled chicken. They also don't have many places to visit near their JR station, especially if you move by public transportation. So I recommend traveling by car if you go to Takamatsu.
You can ride taxi or rent a car when you travel with friends. Shodoshima island and Naoshima island also recommended to stay/ a day trip. But plan carefully because the ferry schedule is strict enough.
Ritsurin Garden is lovely. In Takamatsu you can visit lots of interesting shopping streets. It is a lively city with traditional old Japanese atmosphere. You can make a easy day visit to Kotohira by Kotoden train. Takamatsu has good ferry connections to visit other nearby islands.
Takamatsu
The location is great, 12 minute walk from the Takamatsu Station. There is a nice supermarket and coin laundry 1 minute walk from there. The hosts speak good english and are very friendly and helpful! (I had trouble with my luggage that got sent to my next location that got cancled and they just help Me fix the problem) first thing they did was recommend a few place to go for sightseeing and eating. Big room with a kitchen. Overall great worth for your money, i'll be back for sure.
Near Kawaramachi bus station and railway station. Only 150m ..there is a limousine bus direct to Takamatsu airport, Yen 720. I didn't have a chance to try the breakfast but the owner Daisuke offering me breakfast at his cafe near the apartment. He was a friendly man and also there is a lady who helped me checked in and rent her phone to make al ocal call to me. Thank you so much for your hospitality !
I love the fact that the hotel actually let the guests choose the types of pillows from hotel lobby to best suit one's own preference for sleep. I really slept soundly with the choice of my pillows. The room is very clean, though a bit small. The free breakfast spread is great and delicious. The service standard exhibited by the counter and kitchen staff is exceptional.
The stuff were well training and professional. No matter in attitude and communication. The hotel located in the area full with restaurants and shopping store, but the nearest JR station MRT station and boating port are about 10–15 minutes far away by walk. We encountered extremely hot weather. Thus transportation is inconvenient in such bad weather.
The hotel as a whole is a lovely, beautifully designed space. The breakfast is delicious and healthy. And there are many unexpected perks and amenities that made the stay even more fun, like ice cream or beer on tap in the onsen lounge, and bluetooth speakers/sound bars in the rooms. The denim indoor wear and footwear was also unique.
The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. Renting a bike made the hotel super easy to get to as well. The hotel is very comfortable and the art and decorations are very nice.
The property has a good location, walking distance to the main station, ferry, shopping, eateries and Takamatsu castle ruins. Big room for the twin option,
- very good location between Takamatsu station and port - view of the see from the window - some equipment and furniture are a little bit old, but clean
Very close to the airport with a shuttle but a little hard to get to if you are not at the airport. Large hotel with nice rooms and comfy beds.
Good location, close to the station /port. Staff was kind enough to mail us one item that we left behind in our room. Much appreciated.
I can easily get on a bus to Takamatsu Port or Sta. from the hotel. Warm stay in Takamatsu. Not so far from shopping area.
Takamatsu
