A 10-minute walk from Takamatsu Station, Rihga Hotel Zest Takamatsu offers comfortable rooms with free internet. The hotel features 5 dining options and massage services. We paid a bit extra for a larger room & it was very spacious, as was the en-suite. The bedroom & bathroom were a little dated, but very good quality fittings. The bedroom window actually opened, which was welcome. The biggest positive for this hotel was the delicious (& regional options) at breakfast, plus the two ladies who run the show in the breakfast room. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter & good humour. We hope the management realise their worth! Oh, and the location is fabulous, too. Less than a minute from all the arcades, with easy access to Ritsurin Gardens, ferry port & JR Station. We would stay again if coming back to Takamatsu.

Hotel Bokaiso, JR Clement Inn Takamatsu, and JR Hotel Clement Takamatsu got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Takamatsu.
My 5-night, 4-full day visit was in mid-November. No.1 hit = Ritsurin Gardens. But all other sights seen were good ie 1. Takamatsu Castle ruins (on same day as Ritsurin) 2. Matsuyama Castle 3. Makino Botanical Gardens in Kochi - this & Matsuyama each involving ~2-hour each way train journeys, but through countryside displaying great Autumn colours. And I like train rides! 4. Naruto German House and the Tokushima Rope-Way
The garden was amazing and beautiful. We walked around a lot and also caught the ferry to Naoshima, that was also very easy. Just remember tickets for the ferry go on sale 40 minutes before it is scheduled to leave. I would recommend Takamatsu as a place to base yourself to move around from. We also went to the Museum of Art which was great too.
Wow we had such a great trip! We went to the garden in the morning and had a tour. Then, we reused the ticket in the evening to see it with the lights (during autumn). The tea house and boat activities were fun in the garden. You should at least try the matcha tea. We went to a few islands as well. Naoshima island is great (the chichu art museum is amazing). Also, Shodoshima island was very fun. In terms of food, we ate a lot of udon. The best was at a place called 'Udon Honjin Yamadaya head shop.' It's located near the 85th temple in the shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage. It was relatively easy to access through transit (good if you collect Goshuin). Our days were packed and we had a lot of fun! I would also recommend doing a joyful train while on shikoku. That was a huge highlight and had a great atmosphere.
It's the countryside of Japan and less crowded than Okayama, where I live. If you love quiet places to visit, you'll love Takamatsu. They don't have much exciting food except udon and their grilled chicken. They also don't have many places to visit near their JR station, especially if you move by public transportation. So I recommend traveling by car if you go to Takamatsu.
You can ride taxi or rent a car when you travel with friends. Shodoshima island and Naoshima island also recommended to stay/ a day trip. But plan carefully because the ferry schedule is strict enough.
Ritsurin Garden is lovely. In Takamatsu you can visit lots of interesting shopping streets. It is a lively city with traditional old Japanese atmosphere. You can make a easy day visit to Kotohira by Kotoden train. Takamatsu has good ferry connections to visit other nearby islands.
The location is unrivalled for Takamatsu, just steps from the JR Terminus and right across the road from the ferry services. The local bus station as adjacent to the hotel also. There are plenty of friendly little izakiyas to explore nearby to indulge in the famous island specialty, udon. I was delighted with my room with a huge window looking down to the bustling ferry docks and beyond. The room was large, and very nicely appointed, although strangely it lacked an in-room safe. Maid service was timely, and unobrtrusive.
the location : in the middle of the retro shopping arcade but just off to the side , still quiet in the building. the staff : friendly and efficient. the room : bed was comfortable, air conditioning was just right, not too dry like most hotels, bathroom was separate from toilet , a big tub fir soaking . and for a good price . it’s new , attention to detail. good breakfast, so impressed
The public bath on the top floor, especially because my room was on the same floor, only 25 steps door to door. The hotel is situated right in the front of the train station and the limousine bus to the airport. And walking distance to the port to other islands.
The hotel has a club system, which offered breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and healthy snacks, and a nighttime bar. Exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, and, for Japan, a spacious bedroom. Thank you, Royal Park Hotel Takamatsu!
The staff was very hospitable. We arrived late and cannot communicate well in Japanese but the staff tried his very best to cater our needs, also helped us to book local restaurants. Hotel room was clean and tidy, spacious and value for deal.
Takamatsu
The location was really nice. It was really close to the Takamatsu station, and all the main attractions were around it. The place is pretty high tech and well furnished as well. So we had a really nice time there.
Good location near many restaurants and in between the station and the Ritsukoen. My favorite thing though was the amazing view from the 11th floor of the dormitories!
Takamatsu
Quick walk to the station and near multiple restaurants. The apartment is spacious enough for four people without being one on top of the other. Very clean.
Cleanliness, peacefulness, very close to the station and konbini, friendly owner, good vibes in the shared space, etc...
Very little, the pictures when you book the hotel are very different from the real hotel room.
