I had lost my wallet with my credit card and there was an Australian concierge who help me navigate the phone system to cancel my credit card and allowed me to use their phone for the hour long period I was on hold. He also suggested that I report it to the police. Which I did and the next day they called to tell me my wallet wS found and available for pickup. Featuring 3-star accommodations, Super Hotel Takamatsu Kin en kan is located in Takamatsu, a 20-minute walk from Kitahamaebisu Shrine and 1.2 miles from Kitahama Alley Shopping Street. Exceptional value for money, exceptional staff, exceptional facilities (several types of pillows to choose from, sleep yukatas/kimonos, razors, toothbrush, hairbrush, mouthwash....all free!), great free breakfast. The staff is always exceptionally friendly and polite, making sure everyone is comfortable and happy, even going out the door and bowing nonstop goodbye when we checked out. EVERYTHING is simply exceptional and waaaaaay exceeded our expectations. Unanimously voted by the four of us as the best value-for-money in our entire month-long holiday in Japan! We had booked 2 double rooms for 4 nights, and were a bit anxious as an earlier review had commented the lighting is very poor and dim in the room. But it is not. It is bright and adjustable. Super Hotel Takamatsu is just exceptional in all ways, we very highly recommend it.

Wow we had such a great trip! We went to the garden in the morning and had a tour. Then, we reused the ticket in the evening to see it with the lights (during autumn). The tea house and boat activities were fun in the garden. You should at least try the matcha tea. We went to a few islands as well. Naoshima island is great (the chichu art museum is amazing). Also, Shodoshima island was very fun. In terms of food, we ate a lot of udon. The best was at a place called 'Udon Honjin Yamadaya head shop.' It's located near the 85th temple in the shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage. It was relatively easy to access through transit (good if you collect Goshuin). Our days were packed and we had a lot of fun! I would also recommend doing a joyful train while on shikoku. That was a huge highlight and had a great atmosphere.
It's the countryside of Japan and less crowded than Okayama, where I live. If you love quiet places to visit, you'll love Takamatsu. They don't have much exciting food except udon and their grilled chicken. They also don't have many places to visit near their JR station, especially if you move by public transportation. So I recommend traveling by car if you go to Takamatsu.
You can ride taxi or rent a car when you travel with friends. Shodoshima island and Naoshima island also recommended to stay/ a day trip. But plan carefully because the ferry schedule is strict enough.
Ritsurin Garden is lovely. In Takamatsu you can visit lots of interesting shopping streets. It is a lively city with traditional old Japanese atmosphere. You can make a easy day visit to Kotohira by Kotoden train. Takamatsu has good ferry connections to visit other nearby islands.
We only had one day in Takamatsu. A guided walk in the stunning Ritsurin Park and an amazing dinner with old friends topped off by a bracing walk out to the Red Lighthouse. A larger than expected city with tons to explore. We loved Takamatsu City!
Takamatsu is a great place to visit — it has Ritsurin Koen, perhaps the greatest garden in Japan; and the haunted peninsula Yashima, where long ago the Heike were defeated. Shopping in Takamatsu’s great arcades is another feature! Easy to get around — local train by the castle park! In addition, a train ride takes one to Zentsuji, the birthplace of Kobo-daishi; and just down from there is the mountain shrine Kotohira-jingu, with its 1300 steps to reach the upper shrine. Finally, Naoshima, the ‘art island’, is just a ferry ride away.
Good location, 8-10 minute walk from JR Takamatsu station. Very good buffet breakfast, good restaurant staffing, courteous and cheerful. Front lobby staff was helpful , we sent our luggage from this hotel to our next hotel in Osaka a day before to ensure arrival the next day, smooth & perfect, our baggages was at Namba Oriental upon check-in. This luggage service from hotel to hotel is wonderful at reasonable cost. no need to lug around to the station .
good (if industrial) view from the room, conveniently near to a local train station & shops, with easy stroll to the harbor and the ferry terminal... the neighborhood, though somewhat seedy, had an interesting warehouse-cum-fishing district shita-machi style atmosphere... also, the hotel has a good selection of complementary food & drinks and a rather tasty breakfast.... the specialty curry was particularly good.
The location is good. The shopping street, food street and the department store are within 5 mins walking distance. Walking to the JR station and the pier takes 10 mins. Both the sleeping area and the bath room are big in Japan regarding its price. I would recommend this hotel to my friend or stay again if I visit Takamatsu. It deserves a higher score rating.
The location thoooo, soooo good and convenient (right next to the port if u r planing on going to the islands), with back doors directly across from the JR station, convenient store right down stairs. the rooms are relatively spacious compared to other hotels here in Takamatsu. Jason is really nice, friendly and helpful with everything, thank you thank you!
The hotel as a whole is a lovely, beautifully designed space. The breakfast is delicious and healthy. And there are many unexpected perks and amenities that made the stay even more fun, like ice cream or beer on tap in the onsen lounge, and bluetooth speakers/sound bars in the rooms. The denim indoor wear and footwear was also unique.
Takamatsu
The flat is new and very nicely furbished. It is quite central in Takamatsu so plenty of good restaurant and shopping options within walking distance. The beds are comfortable and everything was very clean. The 'remove' check-in process via ipad worked well.
Location was reasonably convenient to both Takamatsu stations and the shopping arcades. The hotel was reasonably new. Room was a bit on the small side but had all the amenities one needs.
Location is very good, very close to the JR Takamatsu Station, train station and Airport Limousine Beside this, we received a box of Udo noodle and a bottle of water/ or coke
Good location, close to the station /port. Staff was kind enough to mail us one item that we left behind in our room. Much appreciated.
right at the most central location of takamatsu with good restaurants and shopping malls within walking distance, really good breakfast
I can easily get on a bus to Takamatsu Port or Sta. from the hotel. Warm stay in Takamatsu. Not so far from shopping area.
Cleanliness, peacefulness, very close to the station and konbini, friendly owner, good vibes in the shared space, etc...
