It is my first time staying at Aldea Peñón and Nayarit, my first impression of the property is that it’s very clean and beautiful, there are many beaches near by and great restaurants(walking distance or 5 min taxi drive), couldn’t have picked a better place to stay for vacation , we were able to swim in the pool and relax on the roof patio with no disturbance. The owner is very good with communication which I really appreciate. Room was also very modern and nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful little town bordering on a family friendly beach. Jungle trails to hike, beaches to walk, Rincon de Guayabitos is 1.5 kms away, lots of food stalls, and just enough places to buy local wares but few people pushing anything on you. We loved it and plan to return. There is a sweet little beach just south of Los Ayala beach that you reach by climbing up a steep path for a ways and then dropping down into what is called the Kissing Beach. Fun play time in the waves with a vendor there selling cervesas (beer) and other basics. Every Monday afternoon, on the north end of Los Ayala beach, there is a big beach party with entertainment and games. Several good restaurants in town but many, equally good family run, "real" Mexican food stalls line the streets. If you get bored and want to explore more you can take a collectivo for 12 pesos and go to either Rincon de Guayabitos (5min away) or La Pineta (15 min away) Both places are larger and have many more shops and activities but also much busier and more touristy. The market at La Pineta on Thursdays is well worth the trip. Amazing selection of truly Mexican art mixed with the everyday things the families could possibly need. All in all a wonderful experience and one which we will return to sometime soon.
The beach is perfect, great for swimming. We liked it a lot that there were so many Mexican tourists and as Canadians we were in the minority. We found good restaurants in town, especially Cafe Frappe Tropical, Don Pedro’s and a little patisserie.
I like Los Ayala for the birding, beaches, tranquility, proximity to other towns and the restaurants. However, as it is dark at night, and very small, there is nothing open or anything to do. But for daytime it is a good place to be.
It was a great stay I really appreciated staff! Beto went out of his way to be helpful, close to beach, nice pool and jacuzzi, not hot but who needs it in the heat , very relaxful atmosphere . Hope to return
This is a small and authentic town. If you want rest, good food, low prices and gorgeous beaches then this is for you. However, if you want a busy tourist town with lots of activities, overpriced shops and tons of night life and a walmart nearby, this is not your best choice. We really enjoyed our time there and had a wonderful vacation.
Los Ayala is a quiet village on a very calm bay where swimming with children is easy. There is not a lot in the village beyond the beach, but a restaurant does offer evening music and a larger town is nearby. The whole village is walkable. Whale excursions are easy to book as well as trips to a nearby island. Nearby towns, easy to reach by an inexpensive cab ride, have markets and craft fairs. The beach is the main draw, however.
We booked a budget room which cost us $30.00 Canadian tax included so did not expect a lot from the hotel. It was close to the beach only a 5 minute walk. The room had air conditioning but would only work from 8pm to 8am I think due to the cost of electricity rates. We should have upgraded to a large room but language was a issue. Good value and a quiet location.
