Located in Sisal, CASA KINICH SISAL offers free WiFi. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. A little hard to find and the owner does not live on the property. It took a few minutes to get someone to unlock the compound where 4 units were. Once inside, it was perfect. Nice size pool.
Casa Trujeque is located in Sisal and offers free bikes and a terrace. This holiday home has a garden and free private parking. The landlord, Marta, was really kind and understanding, gave us a lot of nice tips. Location is great, you're on the beach in less than 2 mins. 4 hammocks in the house, and there are additional hooks everyone if you have your own :)
Agua de Cienega Hotel offers air-conditioned accommodations in Hunucmá. There is an outdoor pool and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. The aroma therapy was pretty cool and the food was awesome! All the staff were pretty cool and polite
Facing the beachfront in Chuburná, Flamingos Inn has an outdoor swimming pool and a garden. There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. Beautiful location right on the beach, and we had a stunning sea view from our room. The room was big and really nicely decorated, with a lovely balcony and little kitchen. Breakfast was delicious!
The town itself is about 2 years away from being a tourist destination. They are building a new road into Sisal that looks like it will be done by June. The main street was new and looking really good. Get off the beaten path though and you have dirt streets, old mexico. But it looks like they are trying to make it much better. Very inexpensive to stay there and the beaches and pier were worth the trip.
It is usually very quiet, and almost empty. Except at weekends and school holidays (especially around Easter and summer vacation) when half of the Yucatan descends on the long white sandy beach. The sand is cool to the touch regardless of the temperature, and there is always at least a breeze (when not a strong wind) to cool you. Make sure you wear sunscreen, reapply it regularly, hat and sunglasses. Several decent restaurants on the beach, a few excursions on offer, a little fort museum. HOWEVER - vegans won't fare too well here. Almost all the food on offer is fish (and when there is no strong wind, it is super fresh). El Muelle restaurant does, however, have fantastic guacamole for those who don't like seafood.
