Quiet coastal town. Lovely surfing community. Check out Tanjung Inn or Villa Fedelia or Ranting Resort for affordable accomodation. If you want to treat yourself, check out the beautiful The Kasturi. Also, worthin checking out Royale Chulan. Drinks at Pok Lan's Bar is good too. Don't Tell Mama Eco bar. Have Nasi Lemak after 1am at Mok Su Nasi Lemak then treat yourself to some Nasi Dagang at Ombok Cafe or gerai Mak Bedah (in front of Monkey Bar).
Cherating is famous for a food we called it 'sata'. And thats it. For seafood, you might find the seaffod is fresh but the cooking isnt great and tasty like a restaurant do. It s more like a hone cooked.
During monsoon - people avoid Cherating; low season and its great for people who hate crowd. Also visit Cherating if you want to experience a non stop rain throughout your holiday, enjoy breakfast nasi minyak at restaurants and most importantly is a great place for surfing. Great activity during school holidays. Royal Chulan Cherating is the best hotel so far.
The beach has a beautiful view. The water is warm... You could find keropok lekor stall at kg Geliga nearby and eat freshly made fried and boiled keropok lekor, enjoy satar and otak2... The local brakfast at the stall was cheap, delicious and filling....
It's a nice place but wasn't manage in proper way. It should be like old days where lots of outsider came n enjoy there. But now it's like a cowboy town. There s no happening. Very dirty. I like the old cherating back in 80s.
Great for relaxing and connecting with your soul through arts n nature but the roads are quite dark need more street lamps.. and the drivers there are scary... can get a bit boring if u are used to lively environment. Find pak su cherating on fb for turtle watching. Limbong art studio is awesome but currently under renovation.. matahari does beautiful tie dye and batik classes as well..the legend cherating food is good.. and casa titik is a great place to stay.
