An excellent place for food and culture. Enjoyed the tour of the guide who explained the history of tin mining town of Ipoh and the Hakka culture (Han Chin Pet Soo Museum). A great town - not spoiled by the high rise of KL or the extensive tourism (and increasing high rise) of Penang. A fantastic town to just wander around with the bonus of excellent food. Good night markets, interesting country side around (think HaLong Bay on land) and friendly people. I was expecting more from Ipoh, so slightly disappointed. The city centre is a bit of a hit-and-miss affair. Some traditional buildings are left, but overall, it is pretty challenging to navigate. Ipoh is a bit out of the way and the town is very quiet. Most places shut around 9pm. It’s not the prettiest town, but there are some beautiful temples to visit. We did our own tour by Grab and that was cheap and easy. We also went for a swim in a waterfall, which was a nice if exhausting way to spend the day. The high point for me was the Banjaran Hot Springs Resort. I did a day spa there and it’s the most beautiful spa I’ve ever been to with hot tubs fed by a natural hot spring, a steam room and a huge mediation space set in limestone caves. I had their signature massage and it was soooo good. It’s not cheap, but it’s so worth it. My teenage sons loved the wildlife park at the Lost World of Tambun, though the water park was a let down as most of it wasn’t working and the ‘theme park’ was more like a few fairground rides.Guest review byUrsulaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Ipoh is such a charming city — a perfect mix of old and new. From delicious food (you can’t miss the nasi ganja and white coffee!) to the beautiful heritage buildings and relaxing vibes, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy. People are friendly, the streets are clean, and there’s always something interesting to discover, whether you're into nature, street art, or just café hopping. Water pressure was nice and everything were clean. Location was quite strategic just a short walk to the famous uptown in Ipoh “Gerbang Malam”. And there were plenty of restaurants to dine even for Muslims. Everything just within walking distance so you do not have to think about where to park. They even provide you a prayer mat for Muslims and iron set in the room which rarely offered by other budget hotels. Certainly I will book this hotel again if I'm going to Ipoh. Location wise, near to a lot of eateries even there's 3 restaurants just opposite the hotel, no need to drive around to search one.
