Located in Stranda, 31 mi from Geiranger, Stranda Fjellgrend features ski-to-door access and free WiFi. I liked everything in this place. I booked upper split two level apartment and the way to the apartment door has a stairs so we needed to enter the apartment by walking the stairs first. The 2 rooms in the floor were enough for 4 and in addition to place for 2 to sleep upstairs but they will need to climb the stairs. There were 2 living rooms one up and one down. The kitchen and one bathroom was down as well. The bathroom was specious and the kitchen was well equipped. There is a dining table beside the window just like in the picture and the view was amazing. There is a small room that has a washing machine and drying racks which was very helpful for our stay. You can have a walk around inside the community and enjoy the mountains views and the river sound. The apartment was clean and spacious for the 3 of us, there is sky-lift nearby but fortunately it was closed when we reached the said it will open by 22nd of June so if you are visiting this place at that time then you may pay it a visit.
Just 9.3 mi south of Stranda village, Overvoll Farm is a home stay located a 15-minute drive from Hellesylt Ferry terminal and connections to Geiranger. It offers free WiFi and parking. Very cozy and welcoming home and family. Comfortable beds with a guest kitchen, living room, and clean bathrooms. Great breakfast and possible to also have a dinner with the other guests. We stayed for 3 nights and used it as a home base for numerous activities in the area. Highly recommend for anyone staying around Geiranger.

Valley View is located in Stranda and offers a garden and a terrace. The property is 30 mi from Geiranger and free private parking is available. The house is perfect for a group to be social, cooking and hanging out in the open living space. The door has a pin code that arrived on time and the staff was friendly/helpful when we called to ask about firewood. And that view...
Stranda was my hometown growing up as a kid, so Im biased. Its been many years since I moved from Stranda, but I still come back every year. Stranda is a peaceful place surrounded by some of the most beautiful nature in Norway. If you are seeking a peaceful stay near nature, yet with all the modern facilities and services available, Stranda is the perfect place - summer and winter. During winter you can enjoy skiing at in some of the most spectacular ski slopes in the world. In addition to being worth a visit by itself, Stranda can also serve as a base for excursions to other places like Geiranger, Valldal, Trollstigen, Ålesund etc.
We picked Stranda mainly because it is close to Geiranger. The only activity we did in Stranda was actually to take the cable car/gondola to get to the mountain top which offers a breathtaking view of the fjord (Strandafjellet). Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore Stranda further.
Stranda village is very small and quiet and is nesteld on the edge of the fjord but didn't seem to have a lot going on. However the Stranda ski resort was beautiful. It has plenty of runs and lifts (although the chair lift doesn't always run depending on the day of the week!) The ski rental shop had plenty of good equipment and the staff were very helpful. There is a nice cafe at the foot of the slopes and the car park is huge (although the down side is that they charge you a day rate for parking!). The slopes were well tended at the end of every day and were in pristine condition for the next morning. There were not a lot of people on the slopes so snowboarding was fantastic. It's an excellent place to ski/snowboard and probably in summer would be spectacular for walking/hiking. The view from the top across the valley to the fjord was breathtaking.
It is a small town - a good starting point for trips around to enjoy the fjords, mountains and the ski slopes. Not least - man made clean house design, creating a pleasant atmosphere and resonating well with the surrounding landscape.
Amazing place. For hikers its perfect place in summer. For mtb riders is close to paradise (as me) In winter looks like a paradise for snowboarding and skiing. Very close to Geiranger, we slept there for that reason as we visit Geirangerfjord next day from our stay in Stranda. I want to comeback for more days with my enduro bike, for sure.
We enjoyed a trip in a new cable car to Strandafjellet mountain with amazing view to the area and good restaurant on top. However, it was strange to find parking for a fee on a huge empty field, not even paved area, next to a cable car.
Very comfortable bed, nice terrace with a beautiful view
