This is the second time I have stayed at the Kumari Hotel. I have had an absolutely wonderful experience staying there. It has a fantastic location and importantly it is down a quiet street so you get a very good quiet night sleep! The rooms are very comfortable and the staff are fantastic. Rosie at reception is a credit to the hotel and I am sure she will go very far in her career. The breakfast is great, lots to choose from and the guys serving you are brilliant and will help you with whatever you like.

This was my 12th trip to Kathmandu so obviously I love it. I did find it very busy, more than normal this time. However, it's a great adventure and I would encourage a traveller to get out and find the places not everyone goes.

On this occasion we only used this hotel between flights to Pokhara, and only travelled into Kathmandu for a short period. We have been to Kathmandu before though, it’s a fascinating place full of temples and ancient architecture. we loved the city and Kathmandu valley. Nepalese people are so friendly and the pace of life almost quite tranquil especially after a trip to India! (Last time we came straight from Varanasi)

Great place, lots too see. Can be done in 3 days. Traffic and pollution are a problem. hire a driver for the day to take you round the sights,Bouddha Stupa, Baktaphur, Monkey Temple, etc small cost of around £30-£35 quid but well worth it. It save s alot of Taxi rides an fumbling around.

Kathmandu, a city where the past seamlessly blends with the present, offers a captivating journey through time and culture. As you stroll through its vibrant streets, you can’t help but feel the echoes of history in the ancient architecture, temples, and bustling bazaars. Yet, beneath this timeless charm lies a modern, progressive spirit that is equally striking when you interact with the locals.
Every time I visit Kathmandu, I find myself returning to my favorite spots that reflect this unique fusion. Shisha is perfect for those seeking a laid-back atmosphere with rock and soft rock music, providing the ideal backdrop for unwinding after a day of exploration. For a more intense experience, Purple Haze delivers with its electrifying hard rock scene, a must-visit for lovers of live music. And then there’s Lord of the Drinks, a place that beautifully marries the influences of the West with the cultural essence of Nepal and the Global South. It’s the kind of spot where you can feel the energy of a global city in the heart of an ancient land.
Kathmandu, with its seamless blend of tradition and modernity, never fails to leave me in awe. It’s not just a city; it’s a living, breathing museum and a testament to how the old and new can thrive together in harmony.

Kathmandu is a very special place to experience Nepali culture. The people are very friendly and the history, religion, art, festivals and culture of the place are very special and worth experiencing. There is also great shopping if you like handicrafts, textiles, wood carving, Buddha statues, Buddhist paintings and hand crafted metal objects. If you stay in Kathmandu it is worth spending time in Boudhanath which has a large and ancient stupa. There is also a lot to see in Patan and Bhaktapur which are historic towns next to Kathmandu with ancient temples and architecture and artisans at work.

Indra and his collegue are very welcoming and helpful. I was travelling alone and felt super safe. The location in the center of Thamel is very convenient, and also calm, as the hotel is in a small dead-end street. I travel on a small budget and could get a room with a private bathroom (super clean). The furnitures are a bit old dated but the bed linen is clean. It is a small budget place, don't expect more than a clean and safe place to sleep, but be sure you will rapidly feel like home.
This was the third time I have stayed at the Kumari after staying at at least five other hotels and guesthouses in Thamel, Kathmandu. I will always return here because the staff and Boutique Hotel are simply the best.
My favourite hotel in Thamel!
This was the second time in the same vacation and I confirm this hotel is the best!
Many thanks to Aayush very kind person with a big heart, I will miss you so much🥹❤️
