The two owners Pradip and Ajeep are very nice. They made me feel very welcome during my time. - Close to the bus station to get to Pokhara easily. - Good strong WiFi, 3 options that always worked well. - Good breakfast food, coffee, tea. Pancakes are great and the Nepali set breakfast was great. Bottles of water available and beer as well. - They offer tours and treks, I bought the Everest base camp trek which was great, offered at a good competitive price with a private guide. - They let me leave my big backpack at the hotel while I trekked and went to Pokhara which was great. - This was my base while in Nepal and couldn't have been happier with the staff and service. - Good cheaper option - Some rooms offer a balcony which is cool to be able to get outside. - Fans in room. - Warm/Hot showers - They take card payments - They went through all the tourist destinations and gave me a map which was nice. Gave a 10 but more like a 9.5.

Kathmandu has many facets and many areas. In general it is very very poor. If you are able to look past all the dirt and garbage and see the jewel in front of you then it's amazing place filled with very very beautiful architecture and people.
Shopping is great in the Thamel. Make sure you bring spending money!! Hectic city but we loved it . Fuel shortages at the moment have driven up food prices etc but sort a great visit. Loved the garden of dreams and even though badly damaged Dunbar sq is a must.
Kathmandu predominantly has old temples which are worth visiting, Pashupatinath, Budanilakanth and Changu Narayan and few amongst them. other points of interest could be Durbar square, Patan square, Basantpur etc. There is a huge market place as well. The city itself doesn't have much to offer but serves as a transit point for other places in Nepal such as Pokhara, Annapurna base camp, Chitwan etc. People are very warm and hospitable which is a stand out.
If you are going Kathmandu, you must visit and stay in Nagarkot where there are brilliant Himalayan views. Make sure you visit Pokhara as you will see the best scenery there. Spend more time close to the Himalayan moutain range instead of Kathmandu city.
Kathmandu is two things - A spiritual hub and a metropolican national capital. As a spiritual hub, the city offers a number of places of religious importance especially for Hindu and Buddhists. The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most important Shiva Mandir and attracts huge number of devotees. It is one of the oldest temples across the world. The stupas at Boudhnath and Swayambhunath are of equal importance for Budhhists and have their own historical significance. In every nooks, streets and corners of Kathmandu, you will come across statues or icons of Lord Buddha. The Durbar Square showcases the rich cultural heritage of the city and the life of kings. Special interest for many could be Kumari Ghar where a living goddess stays. This is what gives the first three stars. As a national capital, the city is one of the most polluted city I have been to which simply goes to kill you. It is a crowded city which you would assume for such a place. In all it is not one of the Himalayan cities you may be looking forward to. This is why there are two less stars. In short visit, Kathmandu is a religious / spiritual point of view or as a stopover to go inside Nepal.
Liked trekking and culture. What I didn't like - too many guests at guesthouses are new-agy "spiritual" folks that are full of it. And many stray dogs around the city, know several people who got bitten just walking on the street at daytime, highly recommend not walking around when it's dark.
Wonderful place to discover culture of Nepal Facilities are amazing & room is wonderful Breakfast & dinner are simply delicious, don’t miss dinner in this hotel..!!! All is done for perfect holidays but what you could not find anywhere else is staff’s attitude to take care customers. They make all for you to feel at home. Anything you need, they have solution with very reasonable price. Don’t heaitate to walk from hotel to city center, you will discover a beautiful city with incredible nice people. Thanks to every staffs & managers make our stay a perfect time for new year.
Even their most junior level employees including the gardeners and bell boys, are well trained, courteous and professional. The Executive Chef Mr.Rudra Thapa was very professional and accomodated our personal recipes to his already great tasting spread. Ms. Bandana at the Public relations desk and Ms. Lakshmi at the reception were fantastic as usual. The manager Mr. Amit was always around to make our life easy. The hotel has an affectionate charisma of it's own that envelops you.
The staff were so friendly and from check-in to checkout I was made to feel welcome. I had an issue with my air conditioning unit, I called reception and within 5 minutes someone in the room repairing it. I used the spa facilities and found these very well priced and the experience great. The roof top bar and pool is really good. Breakfast is good with fresh eggs cooked in front of you. All in all a great experience!!!!
The location is central. The building is old with double sized walls than regular ones. The staff is very welcoming especially the owner. It’s secure and you can even enjoy coming back to hotel late night if you are out. They have their own transport if you need.
