Featuring stunning views out to Lake Wanaka and the mountains, YHA Wanaka offers relaxed and welcoming hostel accommodation. Good basement to explore beautiful Wanaka as the place is located close to the lake, new world and I centre. Has enough parking places if you drive. I didn’t have enough chance to talke to staff but they are solid and decent. Bed was comfortable and facilities were clean. Spacious kitchen offers free oil, salt, pepper and some other stuff for cooking hence make your bag lighter. Grab a free cup of coffee and have some chat with travellers from all over the world. Recommend if you stay in Wanaka.
Archway Motels & Chalets offers quiet and secluded accommodation, only 200 metres from Lake Wanaka. The staff we extremely friendly and very helpful. Room was very clean and the kitchenette was fully equipped with everything you could ever need. Cedar Hot Tubs were an added bonus as well!

Phenomenally beautiful town but just like our trip to Queenstown last year we felt unwanted as the domestic tourist. Prices were at the absolute top end so it wasn't surprising to see the more bohemian establishments full and the high end ones empty or quiet. We ended up staying at the Aspiring Motel and Sigi could not have been a more welcoming and warm person... a real highlight as it turned out.
Relatively quiet. Beautiful scenery and plenty of eateries. Great for families as there are a number of children oriented activities. The Maze complex is great. Coffee at Alchemy was right up there. Paddons Paddock winery is worth a visit for a wine and simple lunch. Best to go with a group. Everything in Wanaka is easily accessed and parking when we were there was fine.
Appreciated that there are a good variety of vegetarian food options, Go to the movies at Paradiso - you can eat a meal while you watch the movie and they have intermission! The lakeside is a lovely place to sit and soak up the view. Good variety of shopping and the people are very friendly. There is heaps to do in and around Wanaka.
loved the laid back atmosphere, beautiful scenery and friendly helpful people. Very much south island where the people are welcoming and want to make your stay perfect. Loved the shopping area and the pristine lake front.
Bike Glendhu is fantastic - a mountain bike park suitable for beginner through to advanced. The Japanese restaurant on Ardmore Street and the Firebird food truck (fried chicken & burgers) on Brownstone Street are excellent food options.
What my experience over recent years tells me is “ Booking agencies tell lies and misrepresent their clients”! So often you use the phrase “ this is the last one !” When in fact it’s a complete fabrication and does your industry no credit .
Te Wanaka Lodge is very outdated and tacky. All the furnishings, carpet, beds need significant updating. The bed was super mushy, which is probably why they added pads under the bed sheet--which only made the bed more uncomfortable cause the pads just added lots of lumps and bumps. The owners certainly charge plenty for a night's stay without investing any money back into better beds, pillows, and the rest. We couldn't leave fast enough.
The hosts were extremely friendly, and made us feel at home. Lin's homemade breakfast was delicious (something I'll never forget). The room was spacious, beautiful and cosy. The backyard views were breathtaking. Only a short walk to Lake Wanaka and shops, this accommodation was one of our favourites. Lovely people, clean designer bedroom, luxury bathroom, and had everything one needs in a holiday home/room!
Very comfortable room with plenty of space for luggage. Beautiful view over the lake and lovely to be able to walk straight out the french doors onto the lawn. Enjoyed a delicious meal in the hotel restaurant in the evening. Took advantage of the free tennis rackets and hired bikes from reception for a morning bike ride. Lovely hotel in a stunning location.
Hey it’s no 5 star boutique hotel if that’s what you’re after - but it is- exceptional ,comfortable , clean , slightly retro but tastefully renovated , charming and very well managed by the most gracious and helpful hosts I came across in my South Island travels . Just good honest accomodation . Will be back again no doubt.
Our apartment was bigger than the photos suggest (room 101) and it suited our party of course perfectly. Being so central to the Wanaka town centre means you are not wasting time travelling. The standard and cleanliness is very high. Coming back soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The apartment had an incredible view of the lake and had everything we needed for our family holiday. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen was amazing to cook in and the whole apartment felt luxurious..
Central pool area accessible to all apartments but allowed for privacy with individual access points . Great outdoor space used for family BBQ after the pool . Easy to walk everywhere and great garage storage for 4 bikes
Awesome location in a beautiful room. Exactly what we needed, first place we stayed on out trip with a functional kitchen! Felt warm and unhomey unlike many hotel/motels. Ideal.
Straightforward hotel/motel accommodation in reasonable location on the edge of town. Good base for a short visit.
Nice apartment with big kitchen and livingroom. Only a short walk to Wanaka lake and town center.
Good central hotel walking distance to all amenities
The view from hotel room is beyond my expectations.
Pools are really lovely. Rooms have everything you need and staff are very helpful.
The view of the lake. The kitchen was well stocked with whatever we needed
Location was great, walking distance to everything, unit was very comfortable and had everything there
Warm, comfy, good location, nice price.
Location Location Location. 😊👍
lovely view of Lake Wanaka, and very handy to shopping, restaurants etc
It was very clean and cozy, with a nice little terrace. The staff was very helpful and nice. A very good value!
Great value for money . Great workforce . There was a party going on in one of the rooms and the owner promptly shut it down for the sake of the other residence . They ensure you are happy and you can’t beat the price
