Stayed two days, could have easily spent another day there and even more time if I had had a car. Fabulous hiking and biking and some amazing wineries to visit. Cardona and Scapegrace Distilleries are also in the area.
Absolutely stunning scenery and loads of fabulous hikes of different lengths and difficulties. Loads of activities going on in and around the town, like cycling, lake activities, fabulous shops (very upmarket) and restaurants/ cafes, plus fantastic golf. I was there in summer but from what I hear it’s great for skiing and winter sports in the winter as well.
Beautiful breathtaking city with amazing walks and scenery. Great city to hire bikes and explore, mostly flat so easy to get around by bike. Fantastic choice of dining options from cheap takeaway to fine dining restaurants - highly recommend Francesca’s, great authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Rippon Estate is walking distance to the town centre, great wine tasting experience with incredible views so worth the visit but be sure to book online as they are not open to the general public. Good wineries just a short drive from Wanaka and great brewery b.social a 10 min walk from the town centre.
The area was good lost place to eat.we did not stay in the the Wanaka hotel because they over booked our room and put us to flats outside of town with no restaurant and no bar flats where about A mile & half out of town.it is a joke we are looking for compensation.I would not recommend Wanaka hotel anyone.
We were unfortunate to be in town during the A & P Show, which made Wanaka more crowded and more expensive. We've stayed there before in quieter times and it's never been less than a great place to visit.
Lovely scenic vibrant little town situated right next to the lake. Very busy on a summer weekend. Nice vibe Felt safe walking round in the evening Did an amazing scenic flight to Milford sound. Flew over snow covered mountains and glaciers. Package included the flight to and from Milford and scenic cruise on Milford Sound. Was with Southern Alpine Air. 10/10. Highlight of our trip.

What a place! The apartment is stylishly designed, furnished to a high standard, well equipped and the hosts are fantastic. Kauri House Apartment offers a great place to stay in Wanaka. Bill and Noelene are kind, generous and hospitable hosts. Their level of hospitality is really over and above what you might imagine. And breakfast? Also superb. It really would not be out of place in a high end hotel. If you get the opportunity, you should book Kauri House for your stay in Wanaka - don't even hesitate a second!

The apartment was amazing. Very homely. very quiet location. Loved the proximity to the Cardrona Hotel (2 min walk), we had more than 1 exceptional meal there. The apartment had everything you could possibly want and then even more. excellent for self catering. The layout was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We went into Wanaka most days for activities which is only a 15 minute drive and the drive is very easy. Plenty to see and do in the area. Thanks.

- It was very luxurious and everything (subtle lighting, beds, cookware, crockery, toiletries, bathrobes, wooden hangers, etc) was of very high quality. - The room was serviced everyday which was a pleasant surprise - Matt (at the front desk) was extremely helpful and cheerful. He made our stay all the more memorable. - Close to Wanaka town centre & sights

Really love the hotel and also the staffs are so nice. the location of hotel also a bit near to some bars and lake. For the room, we rent the family type one.The room it self also a bit spacious and clean and they also have electric blanket which my parents like. If you like to cook by your self, they have some cooking utensils like whisks, knife, stove as well

Excellent hotel, on-site restaurant with stunning views of the lake - although we did not eat in. Very helpful staff at reception who gave good local information about the area. Views from our room were spectacular.

The place was perfect as I prefer this kind of accommodation rather than a bigger motel/hotel. I also loved the hosts, really great people!
Clean and tidy. Many facilities available. The entire apartment was like a 3-4 stars hotel. Is a perfect stay in Wanaka for sure!
