the accomodation was the best. As we have always passed through Turangi this was the opportunity to stop and smell the roses, sadly the weather wasn't playing ball, however it does have everything there one could possibly need for a breakaway.
Turangi is a centre for many outdoor activiities, fly fishing, golf, skiing, mountain biking and tramping. Creel Lodge Cafe's coffee is excellent and the food superb. The Hare and Copper restaurant's desserts are extraordinary.
Friendly place, located centrally. We went to the Turangi Tavern for dinner on a very wet and cold day. Sat by their wood burner so we were toasty and warm. Food was good and service was friendly. Easy to locate, with plenty of parking. Then went to the local supermarket, very busy place, however self checkouts were available. Would definitely come back to Turangi, but in the summer months.
Turangi was not what I expected, it is a nice spot that is not too busy. As it was raining during our stay we did not do a lot but the Turangi Tavern is a great place for food and a drink. As we like our 5 star accommodation the River Birches is now one of my favourite places to stay with great surroundings and hosts that are absolutely amazing.
It was the perfect spot for a trip to relax & spend quality time together. The whole town looked beautiful in May, as all the autumn leaves & trees gave so much colour to the town, making the drive to Taupo an absolute pleasure. Visited the National Trout Centre and the history + fishing method was very well show cased. Had dinner at Lakehouse Restaurant - the staff were really friendly, food was nice (not to mention the big portion sizes!) and the view for breakfast was as serene & peaceful as it gets.
I completed one of these a few days back. We liked Turangi, lots of beautiful trees and reserves - good cafes and fish and chips(!) - it was reasonably close to the Oreti resort and we had pleasant walks, visited the hot pools and had lunch at a small vineyard nearby. An easy drive to the Chateau.
Nothing has changed. The Lodge is under new management but still has the same kicked back charm. We love staying at Tokaanu Lodge. It’s the perfect R&R getaway. There is nothing better then exploring the region and coming back to the peace and quiet and slipping into a private mineral spa. The rooms are like your own little home and has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay. What we love most about the lodge is it’s a hop, skip and jump away from one of our favourite secret spots that only the locals would know about.
This backpackers was unexpectedly really cute and quaint. We were really impressed with the facility and what it had to offer. The woman who runs it is extremely helpful and super nice. There were maps and posters on the walls with tons of activities in the area to check out. We also didn’t realize it was pet friendly! We had cuddles with the local cat and another guests dog. This was really needed for us :) Just an amazing experience and facilities overall. HIGHLY recommend it!
A great little cottage away from the main building so nice and quite - fully equipped kitchen, small bathroom, - very cosy and warm. A great walk (or cycle) about 5 mins away along Tongariro River - lots of trout fishermen. Very close to main centre, restaurants. supermarket etc. about an hour to snow fields - Turangi is just great - should have stayed longer!
I loved everything thing about this place amazing feeling of being in there. The room felt like we were at home. I love how equipped they were with everything in the rooms. I loved how much space was there as well. We have been to a few different motels and this one by far is the best. Those beds are the best. We will be definitely be coming back soon.
Location, very spacious, peaceful stay, has onsite Restaurant and Bar, playground for kids that you can see from your room. Walking distance to the town centre and also to the river side. Pool, spa and sauna very handy. Wifi perfect, not like most motels they can be slow! Plenty of tea and coffee and a decent milk bottle!
Tony is thehost with the most he is welcoming even though we arrived at midnight warm homley just like old school values not found in a lot of hotels motels etc he has a wealth of understanding an knowledge wow i really felt welcome Tony an We are going to stay again definently
A lovely detached property with three good size bedrooms and two modern bathrooms - plenty of living space and a well-equipped kitchen, ideal for a couple of days with friends. Also ideally located for Tongariro National Park and the south end of Lake Taupo.
Just across the highway from Lake Taupo - could look out the window of my room and see the lake. Staff was very friendly and helpful! The holiday park owns some beach front - nice to walk along. Game room included free billiards and ping pong.
We love the motel experience in NZ - having a kitchen is such a bonus. The room was comfortable with a couch, dinette, bedroom, and decent shower. Creel Lodge has NZ character, beautiful grounds, is located off the highway and is quiet.
This is the second time we have stayed at Turangi Bridge Motel and it was just as great as the first time. It might become our "go to" when traveling to the central plateau. Really great for our family!
The location and overall ambiance of the motel is great for fisher people and trampers/hikers. The extra facilities offered like BBQ's, fish smokers, gear drying room, etc are great additions.
The location is superb. The hot pools came in handy after a cold day in the ice and more importantly the children playground and the animal zoo were really a plus for a family friendly hotel.
Really enjoyed our stay. Great house with everything we needed for our visit. Great value too and recommended to anyone visiting Turangi and its beautiful surrounds. Easy access too.
Amazing location and very spacious accommodation. Lovely breakfast at the lodge.
Amazing stay at Rainbow Motel. Clean, spacious space. Friendly and down to earth service. Mineral pools were so relaxing and are open 24/7. I am a young woman travelling alone and I felt very safe and comfortable. Thanks so much.
