Amazing house, outside of town in the middle of a bunch of sweet potato fields. Felt very remote, in a good way. Beautiful pool (not heated), great outdoor patio space and yard. Comfortable beds. Great kitchen, well stocked.

The accommodation was equipped with everything I needed. I felt right at home there. The landlord described everything to me via WhatsApp, and everything was fine. When I was leaving the accommodation, I forgot my trekking poles there and messaged the landlord on WhatsApp. And he called, but I was unavailable at the time. But then I decided to leave the trekking poles there and continue on my journey. However, the landlord then called me back, picked them up, and brought them to me on my way. The landlord is very kindly person.

The Staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were just perfect with the fan lamp at the ceiling to cool you down when feeling hot. Loved the pool. Great selection for breakfast. If you want to relax, this is the best place to be.

I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly...

I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly or disabled but I do believe booking.com should clearly indicate when a facility is NOT suitable for us. The photos and description of Casa da Umbria were accurate but didn’t tell the whole truth. I can normally make it up the 13-15 stairs to reach a first floor walk-up especially if there’s a good handrail. I didn’t expect to have to climb steep cobblestone walkways followed by 34 steps without a handrail ending in a death-defying 90 degree spiral-type turn to get to the front door. Then there were all the other defects noted in my review. The hostess prepared a wonderful breakfast and helped us schedule a taxi and bus to our next destination but she became very defensive when I mentioned the stairs so I shut up and didn’t even try to suggest anything else. I can’t say anything for or against Odemira in general because I was essentially trapped in our room until we left.

Residencial Rita is the perfect spot for overnight hikers. We hiked from Sao Teotonio to Odemira. The location is excellent, right in the middle of town close to many bars and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely hot water shower. The breakfast was delicious (early hikers, note it starts at 8am) and the owner was very helpful and friendly and arranged transport for us the next day. The town itself is very picturesque, along the banks of a river.

The breakfast is outstanding, really enjoyed it. My favourite moments of my short stay were waking up the one of the horses rolling around on his back on the grass in front of my room, and one of the hotel cats walking onto my lap top when I was working and sitting down on the key board. Just brilliant.

The guesthouse is spacious, very clean, and well-decorated. The rooms are bright, and the bathroom is spotless. The breakfast is complete and beautifully presented. Claudia is lovely, always smiling, and responds quickly to messages. In Odemira, the walk along the river is also very charming.
