Hobbit house offers accommodations in Odemira, 15 minutes from São Teotónio. This organic property features mountain views. It is the perfect nest to watch great skies at night. A true relaxing escape from the city life. Very calm and scenic spot. Very typical house. I hope to be back soon. Hosts are very friendly and helpful on all your needs.
Nice small old town, where you can have pretty good meals for a fair price. The best restaurants are Fonte Férrea, Tarro, Escondidinho and Duo Mira. The name has an Arabian root. The Arabs invaded the Iberian Peninsula and settled down here. So, there are many influences. Nonetheless, the town is quite modern and pleasant, with the necessary facilities. The river Mira crosses the town and its colour isn’t much agreeable, but you have lots of sandy beaches nearby. The country around is very beautiful, with various colours, especially in Spring. You can reach Odemira very easily by car.
Whatever you do don't get lost in Odemira narrow streets. Few signposts and complicated one way system. Looks quite interesting and we ate in a nice place. Head out to the countryside for great food.
Rio Mira and esplanada/ Chocolates de Beatriz (delicious!)/ restarantes: O Fonte ferrea, O Tarro, Os bons amigos (= O Ponte de Mira)/ The library/ The panorama near the river and on S.Sebastiao (wind mill) Bus station: Rede Expresso from Lisbon to Algarve (Lagos/Portimao) Rodoviaria do Alentejo to reach villages like S.Luis, S.Teotonio, Odeceixe for Rota Vicentina etapes
Odemira has some great local restaurants - and is a very peaceful town on a river. A car is essential as we were staying 15 mins drive away. We visited some remote beaches near Zambujeiros do mar which also has great sea food - Also travelled further south on the coast exploring the countryside, beach bars and beaches. Also visited Villa Nova de Millefontes with it river beaches and stunning views.
Odemira is an attractive hilltop town, with white washed, colour trimmed houses. We stayed in the centre. Big supermarkets were not within walking distance , though there some little ones. The River Mira is beautiful as it winds through. As the area is very hilly, walking around is limited to nearby places. We ate at a terrific little restaurant that was set in a lovely garden. The hotel has the name.Odemira is a starting point to walk on the Historical Way.
The Refugio do Monte give one a feeling of home away from home. It is so nicely decorated in a traditional country style which perfectly fits its location. The main dining hall and the kitchen are approachable all day long thus enabling one to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and cookies at the end of a long day. The hotel is very close to Rota vincetina trails and we enjoyed few hikes mainly along the cliffs over the sea.
The apartment and the host's hospitality both exceeded our expectations! Thank you for the clear and quick communication, the refreshments welcoming us as well as for the detailed information on everything relevant around! The apartment is situated within the centre of Odemira, which is very convenient. Also, the photos do not fully capture its charm. :)
A charming quinta with many domestic animals, with a good swimming pool, in a nice location. Very good for a family with kids. A little town of Odemira, 10 mins drive, or 30 mins walk away, is worth of a visit. The owners are doing their best to make your stay pleasant.
It was clean and reasonably priced and well located. The owner was friendly and I appreciated that she made up the room nicely after a night's stay. It is in easy walking distance of much in the small town of Odemira.
