Be sure to visit the Art at the loft.
Be sure to visit the Art at the loft. Amazing Mural's in town. Couldn't order pizza to room unless you used Door Dash and the prices were all expensive. Restaurant in Hotel did not open till after 4:00pm

We were able to do lots of day trips to other places in Northern Michigan. Alpena, itself, has some fun things to do - and a great, free beach. We really enjoyed the glass bottom shipwreck tour - and there are lots of restaurants, breweries, and a great cidery in town.
We spent a lot of time watching birds in the bay from our backyard. Very relaxing.

Alpena seems to have quite a bit to enjoy.
Alpena seems to have quite a bit to enjoy. Lots of beaches and parks. All seem to be kept up nice. There are quite a few one way streets which we are not used to, so you need to watch your driving. There were not many restaurants that we could find for eating a sit down style breakfast. We did find John Boy's. It had a great breakfast. We really enjoyed the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary museum. It has a lot of info on the shipwrecks and a shipwreck boat tour can also be taken there.

Alpena has a vibrant downtown business area. There are museums in Alpena, beaches, excellent coffee establishments, home improvement stores, grocery stores, amazing medical facilities and many places to stay over night or for a few days.

Great location with good restaurants and access to various activities. We liked the boat tour of the shipwrecks and the maritime museum. The dark-sky areas at nearby parks provided an opportunity to star gaze which we enjoyed. And great walking path along the lake.
Breakfast is the normal hotel breakfast,it was good, had a decent selection to eat and drink, room was the standered room, cozy and quite and clean, never used the pool or anything of the such, there was a clerk at the front desk named Lisa martell, she was amazing to say the least, very helpful and friendly, she deserves a raise
The room was spacious with comfortable bed, comfortable bedding (sheets, etc.), as well as very soft and absorbent towels. Mini refrigerator was plugged in and very cold. Many hotels often have unplugged, warm frig. Room was clean. Noise was very minimal. Very good internet service. Breakfast was very good.
