We had a good time in Austin, we just stopped for a couple of nights just to try Franklin BBQ... Waiting in the line at Franklin BBQ Is It worth it, if you like great BBQ, we arrived at 6:00am and was second in line. take foldup chairs if you try it. We also stayed a couple of nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Cedar Park Austin, that was a much better Hotel and area. We went to the Oasis on Lake Travis for a sunset dinner, that was really good food, and a GREAT view. We will go back to try other attractions. Happy Travels!
Good city, but you have to carefully choose the hotel you will stay, if you are doing your tour on foot. There is a hotel for homeless people and they walk all the main streets of downtown Austin asking money. Some of them are visibly drunk or using drugs and this can scary you at night. Watch out Neches St with 6 St at night. The bridge that separates downtown from East Austin is full of people asking money.
What a wonderful city full of lively people! Austin, TX appears to live in the future. There is so much to do, and getting around town is easy due to the city's advanced infrastructure. Favorite spot in the evening to chill out was without a doubt Sunny's Backyard. Revival Coffee, an all pink coffee shop is a must! Watching the bats at sunset from the Congress Bridge was one of the coolest things we've seen. Downtown Austin is POPPIN'!!! It's busy every night, but Friday and Saturday parking becomes nearly impossible. There are so many bars, restaurants and clubs, and if you're in the mood for great pizza make sure to check out Hoboken Pie, which is open until 2:30 a.m. Be sure to visit Wonderspaces, it is incredible, and for some outdoor fun, and the Botanical Garden, check out Zilker! The Oasis is considered a tourist trap, but I'm so happy we went. The drive to the Oasis is absolutely beautiful, and the view at the Oasis is amazing. You can just walk around, or you can have ice-cream, drinks or sit down to eat. Last but not least--get your donut fix on at Voodoo Doughnut! You won't regret it! I could go on and on, but a good idea is to google away and don't underestimate TikTok, just type in Austin and you will get many great ideas! We sure fell in love with Austin, and we WILL be back ! P.S. Depending on where you're from--you will see some random cool stuff you may not have seen before-- like robots that casually stroll the streets alone to deliver something. Pretty awesome!
Austin is a great place to visit but the traffic is horrifying and the roads are a bit hard to follow. But overall there are things to do. We visited Deep Eddy Pool - very nice place to get some some and cool off. Great atmosphere. We walked the trails and saw the sites. Over all a great place to visit if the traffic wasn't so bad.
Domain is a great couples & family area good food & bars & good vibes (Needs a few more child friendly things eg small parks/play area & water fountains etc) and it's easy to travel to other parts of Austin
Stayed overnight but I'll definitely remember cruising around the State Capitol in an electric scooter at 11PM mostly by myself. The whole vibe of the town is very cool and, coming from Manhattan, so cheap! (Uber to the airport from the downtown area was $11).
This was not hotel experience but rather a very expensive airbnb experience. It would have been not suitable only for an airbnb, since you dont have a stove to cook but only a microwave. You don't have room keeping, you have to pay extra for parking and nothing is included. You don't get any comfort comparable to a hotel, but have to pay as much if not more than a hotel. It is also very far away from the downtown, uptown area, but close to a little, lively street. All in all I was dissappointed.
Everything. The staff one of the kindest, helpful. They helped us in everything that we asked. The room is big, comfortable, nice and clean, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is a prefect american breakfast. It is a really great hotel, if you would like to stay close to Austin, I can offer. They hold our many luggages during we travel to New Orleans. Thanks for staff for all of the kindness and helps, that we got.
Breakfast comfort atmosphere was beyond amazing. There was a mix up with my room in the beginning but the management and staff were prompt polite and professional with making it right for me and my friend! We enjoyed it especially the sunrise with the gorgeous view of downtown. I absolutely LOVE AUSTIN and Marriott Downtown sure did make my experience incredibly more enjoyable! Thank yall! :) - David Wiggs
The location is excellent for exploring what east Austin has to offer but also for walking to other areas like downtown. We especially loved the decor, bath products, attached coffee shop and bar, and the friendly and helpful staff. As two female travelers, we felt safe at the property and in the neighborhood. We really loved the Lazarus brewery and Whisler’s bar on adjacent corners to the hotel.
This location is close to many aspects of Downtown Austin- 6th Street and the Capital Building. It is only a short drive to Zilker Park and South Congress. Easy to get in and out of. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The pool was great to cool off from the Texas heat.
The food, the views, Has always been my favorite Hotel in Austin.. When people ask me what I want for my birthday.. I say money so I can stay at the Hyatt downtown.. So this was like my birthday stay.. March 26 will be my birthday..
We had a really lovely and spacious room. The decore was done so well. The bathroom was large and the shower good and strong. If we are back in Austin we will certainly stay there again and we would certainly recommend this hotel.
English guys on a Texas Road Trip. Great location right next door to the main sporting events. 5 minute Uber into Downtown Austin (6th Street) Hotel where spot on. Great pool. Clean rooms. Everything you need. Would use again!
Good hotel, good location. 10 minutes away by taxi to the student area. 25 minutes away from downtown. Friendly staff, descent breakfast and well equipped rooms. If I have to stay in Austin again I would book this hotel again.
Great location, very close to the highway and downtown. There was a shortage of hotels that weekend, so this hotel was one of the few that was good value. The staff was nice and friendly. Nice having coffee all day long.
The room had all I needed, with view to the swimming pool. The swimming pool area was fantastic, the location very central, and the staff very friendly. Tommie Austin will be my hotel when in Austin in the future.
Austin
Excellent location. Walkable to music venues and restaurants. Parking included, a major plus in downtown Austin. EV charging station and wall plugs for EVs in the parking lot. The building is pretty new.
Friendly staff with large rooms. The beds were also very comfortable. They did a good job at renovating the hotel to update it as well. Also a fantastic location in Austin. Close to shopping and downtown.
