FAQs about hotels in Austin

A Unique Slice of Texas

Austin is a city like no other in Texas. A haven for the cool and creative, musicians and music fans flock by the hundreds to this ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ for yearly festivals like Austin City Limits and South by Southwest.

Historic downtown Austin is the seat of Texas government, and the seat of fun and entertainment for locals and visitors. Congress Avenue is the main artery through the city centre, leading you to the impressive Texas State Capitol building at the end. Just off Congress is 6th Street, the popular entertainment district with its quirky bars and fine restaurants.

Away from the hustle and bustle is tranquil Zilker Park, a 350 acre oasis in the heart of the city. Here you can wander through the Zilker Botanical Gardens, or take a dip in the inviting Barton Springs Pool, a natural spring where locals swim year round. A walk around Town Lake at sunset is a must.

Austin is also home to the University of Texas, where about 50,000 students are enrolled each year which ensures a fun and youthful atmosphere throughout the city.

It is possible to get around Austin by bicycle and bus, and Austin International Airport is only 13 kilometres from the city centre. From motels to resorts, Booking.com offers accommodation as unique as the city itself.

November is a great month to visit.

November is a great month to visit. Perfect weather for 50% of our stay. The days with rain were light and still allowed for activities. The Dinner Detective (mystery dinner) and The Escape Game are a must-do. The one-hour train ride with multiple stops from the Downtown Convention Center was an adventure and gave you a different view of Austin (more country-type views).

Austin is a treasure trove, full of fun things to go do and see. That said, I would avoid 6th Street in general, unless there's a particular bar there you are looking to be a patron of. For example, Midnight Cowboy is an incredible experience. The only downside, for me, was the quantity of homeless and beggars we encountered on our way there. Simply walking to and from our car, we came across half a dozen homeless laying on the ground, two of them squabbling loudly with each other, we were approached and asked for money at least a dozen times and one of them insulted the guy who was with me for not giving him any. The police do not patrol 6th Street like they used to, instead opting to all hang out on a side street together, leaning against their cars all parked in a row, waiting for a call to come in. I would avoid the area or try to find a way to not have to walk any significant distance there, if at all possible. Outside of 6th Street, Austin is a delightful city and I would highly recommend it!

I had a great time in the past so I decided to rent another room for a day or 2 until there deluxe suite was available. During this time I misplaced my dl. And had to rent a third room out in fear my belongings would be left out in the sun. In less then 2 minutes of checking in the new room I located my dl. I tried to get reimbursed for the additional room and was told it's to late lol... ruined every bit of my stay!

Great location for the airport, and also easy to get to downtown in around 20 minutes as the bus stop is outside (only $1.25 each way of $2.50 for a day pass - bargain!) The room was large, clean and comfortable and the bathroom also more than adequate. Front staff were friendly and allowed us to store our bags until the afternoon. Whilst there's no restaurant there are extensive vending machines and coffee facilities are available in the mornings. Would definitely recommend as a great value for money option in Austin.

The hotel is right on the back of Rainey St. which means the location is perfect to walk all over downtown Austin (if you enjoy walking, of course)! The staff was very friendly when we arrived, and our rooms were ready for us. We were in Austin to attend the University of Texas football game. Hannah, the manager was very polite and helpful. She allowed us to check into the hotel early so that we could get ready and head to the game. Had not helped us, we would not have been able to drop off our belongings before going.
