FAQs about hotels in Austin

A Unique Slice of Texas

Austin is a city like no other in Texas. A haven for the cool and creative, musicians and music fans flock by the hundreds to this ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ for yearly festivals like Austin City Limits and South by Southwest.

Historic downtown Austin is the seat of Texas government, and the seat of fun and entertainment for locals and visitors. Congress Avenue is the main artery through the city centre, leading you to the impressive Texas State Capitol building at the end. Just off Congress is 6th Street, the popular entertainment district with its quirky bars and fine restaurants.

Away from the hustle and bustle is tranquil Zilker Park, a 350 acre oasis in the heart of the city. Here you can wander through the Zilker Botanical Gardens, or take a dip in the inviting Barton Springs Pool, a natural spring where locals swim year round. A walk around Town Lake at sunset is a must.

Austin is also home to the University of Texas, where about 50,000 students are enrolled each year which ensures a fun and youthful atmosphere throughout the city.

It is possible to get around Austin by bicycle and bus, and Austin International Airport is only 13 kilometres from the city centre. From motels to resorts, Booking.com offers accommodation as unique as the city itself.

This city is much larger than I expected and is growing rapidly. There are wonderful things to see and do and the people are wonderful. We took an hour long river boat ride where the skyline and 'lake' was explained. We went to live music at the smaller stage at the ACL. We took a 3 hour long tour of haunted sites. We were there for the eclipse but we drove out of the city to the Hill Country outside of Austin which was delightful. Unfortunately the transportation infrastructure in Austin is just not able to accommodate all that growth so traffic is quite a problem and there is almost no public transportation.

It was fun to watch the bats come out at night.

It was fun to watch the bats come out at night. The BBQ place we picked had a line but still had food after 8pm. There is some history here which we enjoyed viewing on our car tour. Downtown is quieter during the day than the night.

There is so much to do in Austin.

There is so much to do in Austin. We stayed 3 nights just outside the city - between driving in and wandering the city, it wasn't enough. We were really impressed by the number and range of food options - food trucks, cafes, and restaurants. If you're into food, music, nature, shopping, socializing, and/or exploring urban spaces, we highly recommend this city.

    Always too busy!

Always too busy! Google didn't give option of avoiding toll to get to airport hotel during non-rush hour travel time. Toll travel bites when it can be easily avoided...especially rude for low income travelers. Lincoln was crying 😢 😭 😫 because we squeezed him so tight! Let's get back to realistic prices!

I enjoyed the 2 days that I was there. I enjoyed the Military Museum. Downtown was great for sightseeing. P. Terry’s was the nastiest burger place ever. If you can’t read the GPS then you will get lost in Austin. The roads are the worst. The best time to travel is in the morning.

Staff was extremely friendly even accommodating an early check-in and late check-out. There were a couple of different restaurants in the hotel each with amazing food and great service. The hotel itself is located within walking distance to several shops and restaurants around the downtown Austin area so there's always someplace to explore. My Room was on the top floor and had fantastic views of the city, and once you figured out the new elevator system getting to the top floor with limited stops was pretty easy.

Aloft Austin Downtown is it's best when you are looking for a little clubhouse right up in the mix of downtown Austin. It's hip and the staff have great local recommendations up their sleeves. Caroline's Upstairs (essentially the hotel bar) is the biggest gem of the experience--we went every single afternoon! The hotel is also super close to 6th street and a ton of live music and bar, as well as the Texas State Capitol and all that comes with that. We would definitely stay again just for the reasons listed above.

Beautiful boutique hotel. We love this place! Comfortable rooms, pretty and super clean. Everything is there (and in it´s place), well designed and thoughtfully arranged. Loved the little patio area and the filtered water (hot/cold) tea station. Great hospitality by the owner (Kathy) & a priceless service! We received fantastic recommendations for restaurants. One feels warmly welcomed and immediately at home. A wonderful place to stay in Austin. We will be back, thank you so much, Kathy!

Beautiful property in a great location - removed from all the hustle and bustle of downtown yet close enough to get there if you so desire. Came here wanting an escape for a couple of days, and that’s exactly what I got! Feels more like Florence/Tuscany than Texas! Clean, well-appointed room with a view of the hills on the west side. Staff is very friendly, and the pool area is heavenly! Definitely a hidden gem in the Austin area!

Beautiful hotel with helpful staff. Gorgeous pool and spa, the only challenge is getting a chair as they get taken quite early and quickly! Staff was great and even let me check out late and use the pool til I had to leave for my flight. Although pricey, I would stay again. Located in downtown and a short walk away from shops and cafes and gyms such as Barry’s and Soulcycle, and a short Uber from 6th east st for the bars

We stayed for a concert we were attending at the Moody Theater. I felt like this hotel was in a great location because we were able to travel to downtown Austin easily (Just jump on to I35) and the drive didn't take long at all. At the same time, it was far enough out that you didn't feel like you were in the traffic and bustle of downtown. Our next trip to Austin, this is where we will be staying!

The hotel is well-situated in downtown Austin. Personnel was friendly and helpful. My room was very nice, comfortable, with everything I needed. Even the small kitchen was quite well furnished. The common areas are well taken care of. I appreciated the swimming pool, gym and working spots in the lobby. There is a coin laundry room as well. I had a very comfortable stay and I would 100% recommend.
