Cottage Grove is a beautiful small town 20 minutes south of Eugene on the I-5. We have two lakes (reservoirs) to enjoy, nearby. Both allow all types of watercraft and have campgrounds, swimming areas, etc. They get pretty busy on holiday weekends, but are pretty quiet most of the time.
We have nearby waterfalls, too. One can be a bit dangerous due to the cave behind the fall (Wildwood Falls). Use caution here, as there have been about 10 deaths (people jumping into the water from cliff rocks) in the last 10 years!
Cottage Grove has a local fixed-route bus service (South Lane Wheels), however walking through Historical Downtown Cottage Grove (do you remember the parade in the movie "Animal House"? It was filmed here!) is easy and pleasant.
There are many great eating establishments downtown, as well as scattered throughout the city. Favorites include: Stacey's Covered Bridge Restaurant, Buster's Main Street Cafe, Jack Sprats and Big Stuff BBQ (all 4 downtown); Torrero's Mexican Restaurant, Koffee Kup, The Village Green and El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant.
The Village Green offers the nicest accommodations in the area, though there are a couple of other motels right off of the freeway that are clean and well rated.
We enjoy all of the 4 seasons here in Cottage Grove. We have two golf courses, one of the most popular dirt auto race tracks in the region, a disc golf park and seasonal events in the parks, such as free concerts throughout the summer!
Come visit! :)
