This place is truly a Gem hidden in the trees. I am currently traveling with my wife and two dogs so you can imagine that finding a good pet friendly hotel is difficult. I found this place on Google maps and was drawn in by the pictures alone. We had just come from a different pet friendly hotel that charged us a very high price for both are dogs to stay the night so we were expecting to empty wallet again. I was very surprised to learn that the pet fee was extremely cheap. Once we got into our room we found a dog blankets, waste disposal bags, dog treats, and a small fenced in backyard area so you can let the dogs do their business without having to put their harnesses on an walk around the building. My dogs are very important to me and the fact that this place was so accommodating to them made my stay unforgettable. While walking around the property I saw a garden area with a wide variety of plants and learned that you could have a small wedding in this area. In summary I would recommend staying here over any other hotel
Loved the covered bridges and neat tiny downtown historic area! We ate at Ax and Fiddle...so good! YUMMY! I had the Mac and cheese with asparagus and a bit spicy breaded cauliflower. Reasonable prices. Very easy to get around town and over to the Lake, nice drive!
The town has a long history of mining and logging industry. Lovely Victorian, Dutch Colonial, and Southern style homes being lovingly cared for or revitalized. Several movies have been filmed there, such as Animal House. I use the meandering path made for runners, etc. in the former RR track beds. Murals on historic motel depict movies Buster Keaton made. The food at "BUSTER'S" in the basement of the hotel is very good and people are so friendly. Crowded but fun. Décor is memorabilia including old plumbing pipes. I've run the Bohemia Days 1/2 marathon when it began at the south end of London Rd and ended at a Cottage Grove school. 900' drop in elevation along the course. At age 78 I run shorter distances.
W followed the map for the covered bridges. That would have to be our highlight. There are lots of restaurants. But mostly fast food chains. I was not comfortable walking around. There is an old town but not much else.
Cottage Grove is a beautiful small town 20 minutes south of Eugene on the I-5. We have two lakes (reservoirs) to enjoy, nearby. Both allow all types of watercraft and have campgrounds, swimming areas, etc. They get pretty busy on holiday weekends, but are pretty quiet most of the time. We have nearby waterfalls, too. One can be a bit dangerous due to the cave behind the fall (Wildwood Falls). Use caution here, as there have been about 10 deaths (people jumping into the water from cliff rocks) in the last 10 years! Cottage Grove has a local fixed-route bus service (South Lane Wheels), however walking through Historical Downtown Cottage Grove (do you remember the parade in the movie "Animal House"? It was filmed here!) is easy and pleasant. There are many great eating establishments downtown, as well as scattered throughout the city. Favorites include: Stacey's Covered Bridge Restaurant, Buster's Main Street Cafe, Jack Sprats and Big Stuff BBQ (all 4 downtown); Torrero's Mexican Restaurant, Koffee Kup, The Village Green and El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant. The Village Green offers the nicest accommodations in the area, though there are a couple of other motels right off of the freeway that are clean and well rated. We enjoy all of the 4 seasons here in Cottage Grove. We have two golf courses, one of the most popular dirt auto race tracks in the region, a disc golf park and seasonal events in the parks, such as free concerts throughout the summer! Come visit! :)
