Everything is in walking distance from the hotel. The most friendly and helpful people of any city I’ve ever visited. And an outstanding restaurant experience. If you visit Durango don’t miss going to Chimayo.
Durango is a wonderful little mountain town. It's very compact and so it crowds up with traffic pretty quickly during rush hour. It's also quite spendy, depending on where you're coming from. Gas is especially expensive. Durango has a plethora of places to eat and drink, if going out is your thing and the options for outdoors are virtually unlimited. Skiing at Purgatory is my main reason for going, but snowshoe options abound along with hiking, canoeing/kayaking, etc. If you are into the outdoors, it doesn't get much better than Durango, especially for skiing. Purgatory is great, but there are tons of other places all within easy reach.
Durango needs more restaurants that are family oriented. Sidewalks and streets are filthy, homeless people are a nuisance. River is beautiful and I suggest travelers get off Main Street and see the existing neighborhoods.
Durango is a great little town. Lots of good shopping and dining options. Train rides, skiing, snow mobiling, tubing, hiking, roller coasters, swimming, fishing, rafting, Mesa Verde... you name it they have got it while somehow still managing to feel like a small town. Friendly people, reasonable pricing, lots to do and see... If you want to ride the train be sure to check the schedule. It is worth the extra effort to see what days it is running during your trip. In winter its only Fri, Sat and Sun. All in all I would recommend Durango for a fun filled family vacation.
The local is great for snowy days. Beautiful town on the hillside along the river. I came on a snowy day, it was a scene to remember. River was calm and nourishing. Wish I could spend another day there
So, we booked being new to CO, I quickly realized that most overnight stays are at motel type establishments. It seems that they are everywhere. This place was indeed clean and breakfast was your typical motel fair (hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, one waffle maker and coffee). The staff was friendly and did go out of their way to accommodate us with connecting rooms, as we are a family of 8.
I really liked the location, the service, the housekeeping attention, the great effort made by the employees as a team and the great organization that takes place in that hotel, I am in charge of 3 hotels in Albuquerque n.m. And I know how this works, and I really saw very good coordination between employees. Congratulations, keep up the good work and you will always have clients who will recommend more clients.
Durango
This place is tucked right off of North Main HWY 550, it is so cute and quaint. You can easily catch the trilley or walk to numerous bars/restaurants. It was honestly super quiet while we stayed, got take out from thai Kitchen and ate in the Gazebo. Absolutely felt like a a friends back yard. There are so so many hotels in Durango, it was a pleasure to support a family owned local one!
Durango
Room was clean. Bed was great. There was a mini-fridge and microwave-helpful to heat up leftovers. We used the fan to cool down as we didn't quite get what was or wasn't supposed to be used elsewise. Front desk was very helpful. Hotel was on the trolley route and also within reasonable walking distance to downtown Durango. Parking is free.
We regularly choose this hotel because the location is excellent and the property very nice. In non-pandemic times, they have a good hot breakfast, and we love the Happy Hour, where they give two free cocktails. (Once, during a music festival, the breakfast room/happy hour lounge became a jam session of professional musicians!)
this legendary hotel is attractive from a kitsch point of view with the Western decor and piano bar. Not the cleanest or most comfortable, could use some investment. Atmosphere and lobby decor are terrific. Rooms are a little tight. On the plus side, no extra charge for our ghost.
The Manager Dave was fantastic he was very friendly and had a great attitude when we come back to Durango we will stay at the hotel again. I was driving from California to Colorado Springs and out of all the hotels I stayed at it his one was the best
Durango
It is motel so it is ok fort 1 night stay, just to have room to sleep. If you have plan to have more time in Durango, I think it is maybe better to be closer to the center of the town. Bed was fine, and it is big room.
Durango
Hotel is apparently undergoing renovations under new management. Reception/breakfast area was nicely done up. Breakfast selection was good. Reception staff was friendly and helpful.
Short distance away from historic downtown Durango, close to Wendy’s and Subway. Check-in was easy and staff were friendly.
Great location to downtown and train station. Wonderful view. Safe parking. Very clean and comfortable room and hotel.
Durango is a lovely town. Once we moved from the General Palmer Hotel to an AirBnB it was great.
Free laundry was a big plus. Right downtown - easy to walk to all of shops and restaurants.
