We stayed in Ft. Lauderdale a few nights before our cruise to St. Thomas , St. John. Also a few days afterwards before flying home to California. I would say Ft. Lauderdale was friendly, beautiful and clean with lunch at Coconuts restaurant on the marina the waterfront was pretty to look at and the marina was very beautiful from the 10th floor of our room at Hotel Maren. I will say it was clean and governed properly. I didn’t see one homeless person in sight or trash or tent city’s which is a far cry for all of our streets, highways and towns in California. It’s very safe and nice shopping 🛍️ easy to get Uber drivers never looked over my shoulder worried about criminal activity when we walked to Senior Frogs for drinks. 🍹

It's a nice place to relax and enjoy sandy beaches, tasty restaurants, fun water adventures, golfing, and explore many different sceneries with palm trees. The bridges and boats were nice to see.
If there is one thing we didn't like about Ft. Lauderdale or Florida for that matter is the carelessness idiocracy of drivers, can't seem to ever use turn signals and can't seem to leave their homes on time because they're always driving way over the speed limits.
The city also has very condensed parking lots in business areas and charge exceedingly high for parking spaces.

This was a perfect location for me as I traveled alone.
This was a perfect location for me as I traveled alone. I easily walked to beach, restaurants, music, shops, and great Ice Cream places, and always felt safe. There always seemed to be 2 Police Officers somewhere in the area and they were very kind when dealing with people. AND I didn't have to rent a car, which was wonderful. Not needing a car added to the relaxation I was looking for.

Great restaurants but everything was way too expensive!!!!!!
Great restaurants but everything was way too expensive!!!!!!!!!!!! You get charged for EVERYTHING!! The cheapest drink we could get was $14! Expensive parking fees everywhere. Food was expensive. Activities were very expensive. We won't be back. We'll go to Key Largo again. I highly recommend The Boatyard restaurant for dinner and Diner By The Sea and Mom's Kitchen for breakfast!! Great food. Traffic was heavy but we expected that and it seemed to move pretty smoothly.

Ft Lauderdale is now often more crowded and busier most of the year.
The convention center is expanding and adding 800 more hotel rooms, other hotels are renovating and/or expanding. As with everything in the US, it is becoming more expensive.
With the hotel price increases do not expect any renovations or improvements in the property's condition or upkeep.

Fort Lauderdale is beautiful with its canals and waterways.
Fort Lauderdale is beautiful with its canals and waterways. The local restaurants are lovely and have great food and service. There are places there that we don't have at home like getting milkshakes at Dairy Queen. The unique bistros had great food and the employees were very polite.

It’s my go to hotel in Fort Lauderdale, I have been there 8 times in different situations, this time with the family and booked 3 rooms. The location is amazing, at the beach and has free parking. Pool is available, water is warm. Restaurant at the premises, not crazy expensive and Adriano was amazing server. Fast check in, everyone super nice at the front desk. Beds are very comfortable, pillows and blanket too. Rooms are a little outdated but very clean.
Nothing! Not a hostel. Small apartment with shared space for people who left to go to work!
Lay over stay.
Requested lower bunk and got it. Only 1 initially unfriendly seemingly "long-term " guest in room.
Between uber/tip/travel time RT. I should have stayed at an airport hotel for about the same. Shuttle. Breakfast and a decent restuarant I felt safe walking to...
Staff was finally friendly (after so many unfriendly other hotels employees), room spacious, location 10am from FLL airport. Breakfast included that was a plus, with a buffet rather than limited options.
Very nice resort with attentive and pleasant staff. It's really old style Florida at it's best and a nice change to all the chain hotels that look so much alike at the end of the day.
